Cat is really begging for attention! She has gotten so friendly . . so long as she comes to me and I don’t go to her. She will still hiss at me if I walk up too close to her.
She knows my routine. About dusk, I go out to put the chickens up so Cat is always waiting by the door for me to come out. Sunday evening I was in the sewing room til dusk and when I walked out, there she was sitting by the house door. She didn’t realize I was in the sewing room.
Last night, Vince came over to the sewing room and said “Cat is waiting for you by the back door of the house.” I guess she must have figured out that I was in the sewing room because when I walked out of the shop, she was right by the shop door . . on the car!
Earlier in the day, she let me sit and pet her for the longest time.
You can really see that tipped left ear in this picture. I remember when she first came here and I couldn’t get close enough to her to get a good picture. In some of the distant pictures, it looked like she had a tipped ear but I couldn’t ever decide for sure. It’s definitely tipped and I’m hoping that means she’s been spayed. She’s been here well over a year and no kittens so I’m hopeful.
She loves the attention so long as there are no sudden moves. Her coat is so thick and shiny. I think she’s becoming a happy cat.
She’s gotten Vince wrapped around her little paw! He found where she’s been sleeping upstairs in the shop so he fluffed up her bed a bit, put water in there and bought a litter box. She’s had to go to the bathroom a few times inside the shop so now she’ll have a litter box. She’s safer in there so long as she doesn’t try to climb out the roll up door. Last time she did that, she fell.
We would put a pet door in the walk through door but no telling what kind of critters would end up in the shop. I told Vince we need some kind of facial recognition software that would open the door only for Cat.
She doesn’t let Vince get close to her but he cares about her. He just isn’t willing to spend as much time trying to become her friend. I was determined I could tame her and whether she was truly feral or just halfway wild, she’s come a long way. Sometimes I feel bad that she wants so much attention and I just don’t have time to sit outside for hours and pet her. I still can’t pick her up . . although I haven’t been brave enough to try.
We also bought her a matching set of food/water bowls.
She’s come a long way from living out in the woods!

Cast is such a pretty cat. She looks like 2 of my daughters. We are kind of fond of the tortise shell colored kitties. It is great she has come around too. Some how they always do. It is good to have a cat when you live in the country to keep snakes and rats away but they won’t if you feed them real well. She looks like she is fed very well. her coat is beautiful by the way. Tell Vince to just hang in one of the days she will surprise him when he is standing still.

If you are serious about a cat door that would only open for her, there are such things, but she would have to wear a special collar that the door would recognize. I’m not sure that is practical for Cat. She seems to be happy living outside on her own terms.

It took 2 years to get my dumped kitty inside forever. Time and patience. Lured him into screen porch for food for a year before I closed the outside door forever. He’s happiest boy now.

This post just makes me smile 🙂 I had a tortie calico when I was a young teen. Crazy cat would follow me all over. One day she followed me to the mailbox a few hundred yards or more from the house. On the return, I cut through the pasture where there was a small pond. Silly cat ended up on the wrong side of the pond and instead of continuing on around where she would have met up with me, she jumped in the pond and swam across. She also loved lettuce and canteloupe!

We had a Kat/PK (pretty kitty) that was apparently dumped. I am extremely allergic to cats and I kept telling husband that there was apparently one living under the house because I was reacting to a cat. And there she was – a young – beautiful – white cat with some kind of growth or something on her neck. I was worried about her, so we started feeding her until we could get close enough and it was a way too tight flea collar that was digging into her neck. We finally were able to grab her (via towel and my husband doing the holding) so that I could cut off the collar. So then of course, being responsible animal lovers we decided it was time to get her neutered – only not even the feral cat groups would do it without a very sizeable donation. So we took her in to be spayed. And then didnt even think about the after care. So she had to stay in a crate in our garage for awhile. And so she adopted us. Took awhile but she eventually decided to let us hold her…us being my husband primarily who then had to change all his clothes outside before coming inside…..the furtherest she would ever do is decided to come in the house, walk around the various rooms just checking things out – never tried to get on any of the furniture. In the winter she would sleep in the garage in the (open) crate with blankets. And then on day after several years she jsut disappearred…….broke our hearts. Cats are beautiful and it is all I can do to keep from wanting to pet and hold and cuddle them but I just cant…..wish I knew knew how to post a photo here…..

Cat trusts you and will come to trust Vince. It took a while for the foster I had to trust us then he was completely gaga over us and wouldn’t let out of his site. Then we had to give him up… Best thing ever happened to him (well except for us taking him), He’s happy, healthy and in a loving home. !
