Oh, this is embarrassing! This quilt was on my UFO list in 2011. At that time, it was only blocks.
It made it to my 2012 UFO list but it was now a top needing to be quilted. What’s weird is it was
At some point, I finished the top and quilted it in 2013.
This is what I wrote in the January, 2012 blog post:
This is Vince’s quilt and it will be nice that it’s the first quilt that I quilt and finish at our new house in my new sewing room.
That didn’t happen so . . maybe 5 years later, I’ll get it finished.
The binding is almost all pinned on and I’ll sew it to the front. I doubt I get it stitched to the back today but hey .. that’s a very good start, don’t you think?

This post reminds me that I have a quilt with binding finished on 3 sides, and yet it has sat and sat since last summer! I’ve got to get on that…

I have one set on its stand in the game room/garage for so long that a mouse chewed a hole in the bottom. So I cut that part off took some blocks off the top part. It has been rolled on a quilting frame for over year now. Just doesn’t look right with the missing blocks. So I’m gonna find some fabric as close as I can to the back, try to patch it back together and get it finished. I think Vince’s quilt is beautiful . The game room/garage has since been closed in and air-conditioned .

Re the knitting patterns – I love the shawl wrap type garments but…..where does a shortish, plain woman wear them? They look so gorgeous on tall, thin people. I don’t recall seeing any of my friends with them? Any clues?

Great one to start! I already knew the number when I wrote my list so I cheated a little and picked an easier one to start on 🙂

Good to see I’m not the only one who does it in long stages. LOL Vince will be thrilled when it’s finished. I do really, REALLY like the quilt.

I loved making that quilt in blues, and it’s now nearly worn out on my bed! I’m so glad yours will be done soon, and you’ve definitely made a great start. I AM going to finish Tell it to the Stars this year!

It’s a beautiful quilt, and I’m sure it will be happy to have its binding on!

Love the colors, and what a great pattern! Do you recall what it is? Looks like it might be simple enough for my daughter who is a beginning quilter. Congrats on an almost first finish of 2017!

I wondered what happened with that one. I love the colors and your pattern. Great to get one done, isn’t it?

Binding? Had travel plans for last week that fell through. Decided to bind some quilts that I had machine quilted during the year and tucked here and there around the house. Was amazed when the pile numbered 30!!! Will take several days to finish up this little chore. All to be donated. Then to start over in the new year.

Go go go!!! You can do it!!!

Loved that quilt when you posted years ago and love it still. I downloaded the pattern and have it somewhere with the intention of making it someday. Its nice your first UFO is a ‘small’ one – binding. Luckily my #3 is doable too. Finishing a simple wall hanging top.

Wonderful start, Judy. No need to be embarrass – lots of us have UFO far older than yours. I have one going on 30 in September, but I’m working on it.
