Maybe it’s because I’ve had a momentary lack of reasonableness (stop laughing — I’m usually quite reasonable) but between Miss Babs’ end of the year gratitude sale and Eat, Sleep, Knit’s flash challenge and trying to match yarn for a project I’ll talk about in another post, I figure we should all just start anew with our stash reports on Sunday. Zero. Everything is reset to zero. Anything that was ordered prior to January 1 . . no matter when it comes it . . doesn’t get counted. You can count yours if you want . . I’m not!
I don’t even want to know how many yards of yarn I bought. It was all on sale so that has to count for something. Really, Vince is going to retire some day in the next few yeas and my yarn buying will probably come to a dead halt – nothing new ever again!
I’m feeling really good about not buying yarn in 2017. Sure . . about January 5, ask me how I’m doing! 🙂
I was just telling a friend that back in my quilting days, I would buy fabric just like I buy yarn – too much . . way too much. Then . . I just stopped. Except when a quilt shop near here closed a few years ago, I haven’t bought fabric is 6, 7 .. maybe 8 years. I feel that coming on with yarn. Once I learned to make the stash work, and even though what I had might not have been what I would buy if I were buying fabric today, I made it work and I actually enjoy that more than going out and buying new fabric. I’m so hoping I get to that point with my yarn.
OK .. my stash report on January 1 will be nothing in! That one won’t be a lie because nothing has arrived yet. It will mostly come next week but since it was ordered prior to January 1 . . well, just play along with me and that will make me feel better.

I like this plan!!! I do have an order coming from Miss Babs gratitude sale too but I maintained some control (it could have been much worse). 🙂

Love your thinking. Hubby gets paid tomorrow so if I go on a huge buying spree it won’t count, right?

I just love your attitude.
Let’s just reset the clock and start back at zero.
Works for me.

Works for me! I have been really good this year about not buying, an occasional fabric for border or backing. I am going to try even more next year. I am getting back 8 quilts after the 1st from the quilter and it should make my numbers fabulous, lol I don’t count the fabric out until the quilt is complete otherwise I couldn’t keep an somewhat accurate number.

Doesn’t count fr 2017 if you spent the money in 2016. =) I’m not keeping track of anything. I want to keep everyone in business. =)

a box came today and I hid it under the bed. I don’t need that fabric. I just wanted it. I’m gonna let it live under the bed for a while. Then, maybe, when I get the urge to buy some “new” fabric, I can just take that out from under the bed and pretend I bought it….. anybody think that will work?
Let’s see… the first Stash report is Jan 1….. well, I predict that will be my best one of the year !!!

I just found your blog and I love your thinking – LOL. I have never tracked the yards of fabric that I have bought and/or used up. I think it is time to start in 2017 and I will start at zero on January 1st also.

I like the way you think. I’m in!
