Quite a few years ago, I did a UFO challenge and what it involved was listing 12 projects you would like to finish and each month, we draw a number and that’s the project you work on that month. Anyone want to do that with me again? I’m thinking I might also re-arrange my knitting queue and put 12 of the things I’d really like to get done as numbers 1 – 12 and then whatever number gets picked for that month . . I’d have to work on the corresponding quilt UFO and that knitting project.
Not all things have to be finished but any work is better than no work, right?
I have quite a few quilt tops that need binding or quilting and binding so I’ll probably stick with those and not set my sights too high.
If anyone is interested in doing this with me, it could be a group project but if not, I think I’m going to do it by myself.

I might play along. One UFO a month is too many for me. Most of mine are large and need a lot of work. but I can come up with my own scaled back version.
Tricia Sagen says
Count me in! I still miss your weekend quilting marathons…good times!
liz says
I’m in – I need to get back to finishing up some projects and get back writing on my blog.
liz says
It’s funny seeing everyone’s answer – we all have those UFOs that we should be finishing up, but we need someone to give us a push. Group therapy!
Myra says
My UFO list if long, need accountability somewhere!
Sandie says
Sounds like a good idea to me!
cindy says
if I can get my stuff organized from the last move and find the projects that need working on, I would love to join in. I do know where at least one project is that needs finishing. Maybe organizing can be the first month project for me.
Sherry says
I’ll play. I need some motivation to get back to sewing.
Julie in GA says
I could certainly use some motivation to help me finish up some UFOs. The hard part might be choosing only 12!
shirley swift-bruner says
I enjoyed playing this with you last time. i am in again…..lead on.
Rebecca in SoCal says
I’ve joined such things before and totally failed, but I’m starting to machine quilt now. Maybe I could put down smaller projects, to get the rush from finishing!
Sherrill says
All of your reminiscing makes me realize how much our hubbies had in common. My DH’s father immigrated by himself to the US at age 9 (!!) and worked on the docks in NY. His father was 50 when he was born but his mom died when he was only 12. I never knew either one of them either. I occas. go back and re-read my blog.
Carol says
I’m in. I got a good bit done the last time you did this.
AnnieO says
That would be great–I did like that monthly challenge for UFOs. There still some I need to finish from way back when!
Kathleen says
Yes! I have tops that need quilting and this could be the push to get them done. That would be my priority. I have waaaaaay more than 12 UFOs I could prioritize too.
Carol says
I think I might do that as well…I have two current embroidery pieces that were sidelined by my broken wrist/therapy, one knitted afghan that’s been around forecver and at least two crazt quilts that need backing/binding… I might try a scaled down version rotating six instead of twelve, reorganizing my crafting/sewing space as the remaining six.
It would be good to clear the decks, so to speak!
Dorothy says
Yes, as long as you don’t follow the same “schedule” as All People Quilt. I would hate for you both to be pulling the same # every month 🙂
Linda Mincher says
I have just gotten things straightened out in my sewing room and had a similar idea for tackling my many UFOs, so I think I would play along with you all. I love you trip down memory lane.
Ramona says
I need this to get some long forgotten (and not so forgotten) things done here, so I’m in!
Fran in Mississippi says
I’ll start my lists today!
Verna says
Count me in! The UFO Challenge is what originally brought me to your blog, and it gave me the push I needed to get my projects done!
montanaclarks says
No UFO finishing for this girl for a while. Mike and I have purchased 108 acres in AZ with an unfinished house–outside is finished but just studs on the inside–I think we will be busy for a while!!
Anita says
I’ve suggested this idea to my quilt guild several times to no avail. Yes! count me in!
katie z. says
I’ll have to look at my quilting list for next year and see what UFOish things I have. I’d certainly like to join in if I can!
Sheddy says
I’m in! I’m making my list and checking it twice!
Beth says
I’m in!!!!
Joyce Gieszler says
Judy, this would be fabulous! I mention you in my guild presentations about a way to tackle UFOs. I’ve got a list a mile long, so count me in. Thank you for all you do!
Frieda Z says
I’ll play. I had fun playing last time and know I have at least 12 things to do.
Teri Jordan says
What a great idea…and a fun way to get some UFO’s done…count me in….
Sandy says
I’ll pick 12 and give it a try, but there are no guarantees! I have too many UFOs (all tops) to count!
Julie Siplon says
I think I’d like to be part of this. Having decided to clean the sewing room, this would be the perfect incentive to help keep me focused. hanks so much for offering. Another one we did a few years back was the color of the month quilt. That certainly helped to use up scraps.
Debbie says
I could certainly be persuaded. I did this when you did it a few years ago. It was helpful in completing things although I have this bin….there might still be some projects in there from the last time!!!
justquiltin says
I’d probably be able to put nearly the same items in this time as the last time you did the UFO challenge. Okay – I do know I finished “some” of them but there’s some I know never got completed. 🙂
Moneik Stephens says
I’d love to do this as well. I always set a goal, but I think I need to work more on my UFO’s and get them moved on.
Lisa Simon says
Yes!!!
Jeri Niksich says
Sounds like fun and a push I need also. I have so many things going on right now I don’t think I’ll ever see daylight. Can’t say I’ll get the 12 completed but I sure will try.

Alycia @Quiltygirl.com says
Hmmm , I don’t know if I have 12 ufos… ( Duck!!! The lightening is shooting from the sky!!) Ha ha!! I think this would be fun, and I could use the group therapy!
Jennifer in Indy says
Me too! APQ does one too, so you could even use their numbers and use you blog for people to post pictures/progress. I usually get about 6-8 done, but that’s way better than none!
anudge says
Your last ufo challenge was very helpful for me, so I’d like to participate again. Thanks for resurrecting this, Judy.
jennifer in PA says
Yay! UFOs again! I had to laugh when you said “quite a few years ago!” Ha! Doesn’t seem like that long, but I guess it has been! I have a “few” UFOs lurking around- so I’m in! Thanks!
