I know . . it’s Texas . . it’s what you expect.
Saturday our high will be 75° and our low will be 18°. Be thankful for the 75° I suppose . . right? That means that depending on how much cooking I’m doing, we could be running the a/c on Saturday morning and the heater/fireplace on Saturday night. Except for tonight, there’s no ice in the forecast through the next week or so which means traveling for Christmas in this area will be after (not that we’re going anywhere!).
The best news is .. Christmas Day it’s supposed to be sunny and 70°. I’m always happy to see beautiful weather on Christmas because I remember getting a bicycle and badmitten set and outside toys and I couldn’t wait to go out and play. I remember trying to convince my mom that it was no longer raining .. it was just dripping off the trees. I should be able to go out. That was back in the time when kids got outside things and kids still played outside. Probably folks from playing outside on Christmas Day but this southern girl does not like frigid (yes, 18° is frigid in my opinion) any time and certainly not on Christmas.
Long time blog readers have to remember my snowy Christmas Day story, right? There are a few blog posts that bring back memories that make me so happy I’ve blogged about everything and that is one of those posts.

We have a balmy -5 for a high on Saturday with wind chills -30- -35 planned, with 5-9 inches of snow included. It’s TOO cold to even be outside. The windchill hasn’t come above 0 for the last two weeks.

I spent almost 62 years living around Houston and enjoyed the lack of winter, but my kids decided they wanted to live where there are real seasons (and they have the grandkids) so we moved to Indianapolis in May. Now there are the remains of almost 4 inches of snow on the ground and the high for Wednesday is forecast at 14. I don’t go out much and am refusing to drive on the bad roads but even 14 sounds balmy compared to -5.
