Shadystroll has this morning released her pattern, Under the Oak. Here is the one I did as a test knit.
This was such a fun pattern to knit. First, it’s very well written. There are written instructions and a chart. I followed the written instructions. Second, it’s DK weight yarn so it goes very quickly. Third, except for the few cable rows, it’s pretty mindless knitting. And, I think it’s gorgeous. I’ve worn mine a couple of times and people have stopped to tell me how pretty it is.
I’m making a second one using Cloudborn Superwash Merino DK. I would love to get it finished in time for Christmas but that’s very doubtful.
To celebrate the release of the pattern, in collaboration with Shadystroll, we’re giving away a pattern. You do have to have a Ravelry account in order to win. Accounts there are free so if you’re a knitter and don’t have a Ravelry account, get one and then leave a comment below telling me who you would like to make an Under the Oak for and what color you would like to make it. You can tell me a specific yarn if you’d like but all that’s required is your Ravelry name, who you’d like to make it for and the color you’d use.
Wednesday morning I’ll use a random number generator to pick a winner, provide your Ravelry name to Shadystroll who will send you the pattern.
For those who don’t win and want the pattern, it will be 25% off through Noon Friday, December 16 (EST). Details are on the pattern page.

This is pretty and I might even want to take up knitting again. I like the brown color that is on the Ravelry page. But, just like I look at every quilt pattern, I am always thinking of a variation. In this case, I think it would be a beautiful to be doubled and made into a lap blanket.
Ravelry id is SpinningStar.
Pinot and Piecing says
The pattern is gorgeous! I’m torn between the variegated brown and the blue! In the end, I think I’d choose the blue so it would go with jeans, which I end up wearing 99% of the time. That is, when I’m not wearing my sweatpants (which to tell you the truth, is the real 99% of the time. The remaining 1% of the time is when I wear jeans 99% of that. So what is the remaining percentage? Gah. I think that’s when I’m in my underpants. Too much information?)

That is beautiful! Ever since I found out that my blood thinners are going to be a lifetime thing, I’m falling in love with every warm looking shawl I see. I think I’d do it in a light neutral color so that it would go with everything. (Ravelry ID – mychellem)

Gosh, that is one beautiful piece. I think if I were to make it, I’d do it in worsted weight for extra roominess, in a gradient of autumn colors from dark green to orange like the colors of turning leaves. I think it’d work amazingly with the cabled pattern. I would totally make it for myself because who could part with that? Actually, I’d probably make a matching set for my sister and mother too. Cabled knits are my first love.
Ravelry id is rebelpriestess!

I’d make it for me! No one else in my family would wear a shawl or I’d love to make for my mom or one of my daughters. I’d make it in a soft gray. Or maybe dusty rose. Or maybe navy or red or… I can see it in so many colors! My Ravelry name is klmthread

I would make this for my mother-in-law. She is 86 and just had a bad fall so she’s restricted to her bed for awhile. This would be great for her to wear. She loves pink so it would be a very soft pink. My Ravelry name is losurymalu.

I’m allergic you wool so I’d make it with red heart super saver yarn it’s a Worsted weight acrylic yarn but I think it would work. I haven’t done cables in a million years so it might be fun. What size needles is it knit on? I really don’t like to knit with size 13 and 15 size needles. The color I would make it in would be a beige or tan so I could wear it with any color. This would be my first shawl. I’ll say it’s for me but I usually give what I make to one of my daughter’s I love the border. I love yours. My Raverly name is dquilterbee or dquilterbee. I’ve not purchased anything from Raverly so if you need more info let me know

Beautiful! I’d love to make one of these for me! I checked my stash and I don’t have the yardage I’d need to knit it so I’d need to buy more yarn! Ha! I’d love to try the Wollmeise DK. I’m thinking a red or a Charcoal gray color. Something that would match a lot of my wardrobe which is jewel tones mostly. My Rav name is JackiesStitches
