You know the frozen store bought fries are amazing in the air fryer. I am not sure I had ever bought a bag of frozen fries before getting the air fryer and we’re now on our 4th or 5th bag of them. Today I wanted to try making homemade fries. I always feel like I have clarify . . these may or may not be “homemade” because I bought the potatoes! 🙂
To make these, the potatoes are peeled, if desired, and cut into strips. Then they’re placed in ice water for at least half an hour, drained, tossed with a little olive oil and placed in the fryer. I set mine at 390° for about 12 minutes. They tasted just like homemade fries but honestly, I think I like the frozen fries better. It could be because the potatoes I’ve been buying lately are pretty sad looking and not very tasty but until I have a fresh crop of potatoes in the garden, I think I’ll stick to store bought frozen fries.

Darn, Judy! My husband’s gonna shoot me! I bought the InstaPot, have barely used it, and now I need the AirFryer! Somehow I need to justify this, lol, and I may have figured out how with your help. Hubby loves corn fritters in tomato soup but I haven’t made them in years since my Fry Daddy conked out. Have you ever made them? It’s a wet batter that gets plopped by the spoonful into hot oil. Might there be a way to make a stiffer batter and using parchment paper to line the basket? What do you think?

In response to the above response, I think from Dar, you should use your Instant Pot to make the tomato soup! My husband got the air fryer for me for Christmas, so I have been unable to use it and respond to your question….but I sure love my two Instant Pots! It might make it easier to justify the new appliance if you use the older one??? Good luck!

Do you have to soak the frozen fries? And what temp do you use?
