Week 8 has come to a close. Nothing lost and nothing gained. With the thorn in my foot and getting it out, it was Thursday before I could walk and I knew it was going to start raining Friday and rain most of the weekend so I figured I’d just wait til Monday to start walking again. We ate lunch out once and dinner out once and while we didn’t pig out, we ate things we shouldn’t have – a roll and a Dr. Pepper at both meals.
Week 1: Lost 9.2 pounds
Week 2: Lost 4.6 pounds (13.8 total to date)
Week 3: Lost 1.8 pounds (15.6 pounds to date)
Week 4: Lost 1.6 pounds (17.2 pounds to date)
Week 5: Gained 1.2 pounds (16 pound lost to date)
Week 6: Lost 3 pounds (19 pounds lost to date)
Week 7: Lost .4 pounds (19.4 pounds lost to date)
Week 8: Lost nothing/gained nothing (19.4 pounds to date)
I had my annual blood work done this week and was so sure my cholesterol was going to be way down but I was wrong. It was 205 last year and this week . . it was 245. Makes no sense to me but I’ll keep exercising and losing weight and see what next year brings. I’m not going to take statins.
The good news is the glucose/blood sugar levels. In 2014, my level was 106 and that was flagged as high. They want mine to be under 105. In 2015, it was 91 and this year, it was 77 so I’m really happy about that.
We’re halfway through our 16 week program now. I’m hoping to work harder this week and have at least some amount of weight loss.

Well that is just weird but we do all hit those stupid plateaus at points during our weight loss journeys. And REALLY weird about your cholesterol! But that blood sugar is fantastic! I used to have a walking video (I know, sounds odd) that I used and there was a low impact option then higher impact options plus different distances. I really liked it when I couldn’t walk outside. I was really huffing and puffing about some of those workouts!

Dang cholesterol–mine was 260 when I finally caved and started taking a statin. My triglycerides are also not good–a heart attack looking for a place to happen said my nurse practitioner! I am thin-ish, eat well most of the time, exercise–???? Hereditary they said–GRRR. I take the lowest possible dose of Crestor and unlike the statin I took a few years ago, the Crestor has no/none side effects. Good luck this week with the diet, I stepped on the scale this morning–mistake!

What is your objection to taking statins? They might save your life.

Following you closely. I am having the same problem

Dear Judy I agree with you 100%. We all know what we need to do but just won’t do it. I will never take statins they make your liver stop doing what it’s supposed to be doing. Because we make bad choices why should take a drug that has horrible side effects to your body. The only one that helps is the drug companies. I no longer get mammograms for that very reas on, we have cancer cells in our breasts and when we allow them to “smash” them it just shoots those cells into our bodies big time. I do thermography now and feel much better about it. So please keep posting your “opinion “, I’m right there with you!!
