The guys arrived this morning to take out the old air conditioner/heater and put in a new one.
In the last four houses where we’ve lived, we’ve had to replace the a/c but it always happened sometime between July and September when the old unit completely died. I’m so proud of us for doing this one before it quit completely. We feel confident we’ll be here for a good while (you know what will happen since I said that) so we’re happy to put in a new unit and get to enjoy the benefits. It seems that every time before, within a few months of putting in a new unit, we moved.
They’re noisy working in the attic and it’s going to be 85° today but that’s better than 185°, which is what it seems like all summer around here. They probably won’t get it finished today but it will be plenty cool tonight. We’ve been sleeping with the windows open.
A friend on Facebook just pointed out that it’s going to be 27° either Friday or Saturday night so I need to get the citrus and banana trees into the greenhouse and test the heaters in there. Chances are . . if it’s 27 in town, it will be about 32 out here but I’ll still have to go through the whole “before it freezes” routine with all the irrigation lines in the garden and the watering containers for the chickens. I’m always wishing for winter . . til it gets here!

Know what you’re going Through! Last year new a/c. Yesterday was the finish of a two day replacement of all our ductwork. Yikes! I looked inside and the fellow said
“That’s what you’ve been breathing.” Like you, I didn’t accomplish anything for those two days.
