During Tour-de-Sock this year, I was introduced to Heidi Nick’s designs and instantly fell in love. They all look so complicated but her patterns are so well written that if you take one step at a time, you will never have a problem. I love her designs and even the ones that I pass over, as soon as I see someone’s socks made from that pattern, I have to make them too. Cables are so beautiful and so addictive.
Two Thanksgivings Ago is a test knit I did for Heidi Nick and the pattern has now been released.
I made mine without beads. I think beads are great on a scarf or shawl but the way I look at it . . why put them on the leg of my sock because hardly anyone (maybe no one) sees it and I surely don’t want beads on my feet where my shoes are going to be.
I had actually started and completed the first sock and there was a minor change so in order to be a good tester, I started over and made two socks with the revised pattern so I need to go back and finish the second sock that I first started.
It’s such a beautiful pattern!
The yarn in the green one is Miss Babs’ Hot Shot. This is probably my current favorite sock yarn. It’s a tad thicker than most sock yarns. It’s 113 grams for 400 yards and most are 100 grams for 400 yards. It’s more fluffy but not hairy, and less “stringy”. Some sock yarns, the plies want to split. Hot Shot does not. I really like it. A lot. I need more! 🙂

Lol, when I read it’s more fluffy not hairy I was thinking more about my legs. They of course are more hairy than they will ever be fluffy. But then again….I tell my husband I’m not fat, I’m fluffy ?

What beautiful socks! I started my first sock a couple of years ago. I knit the body of the sock, but now I need to turn the heel. Maybe this winter…

altho i don’t really knit (but was inspired by you to make a pair of very basic socks), i think the stitch pattern on the back is stunning. i can see a sock with the whole thing looking like that and i would love it.
