This was one of our weekend lunches and it seemed like a huge lunch but it was really a healthy lunch.
Our diet plan is encouraging us to fill half of our plate with veggies and I think I accomplished that. There’s a 3 oz. hamburger patty that was grilled, with one slice of cheese, sauteed mushrooms and grilled onions. We added the butter beans for extra fiber. There’s lettuce, tomatoes from the garden with a couple of black olives and I put sugar free salsa for the dressing. The asparagus is roasted with a little parmesan cheese sprinkled on top.
I wasn’t able to eat all the asparagus but I ate the meat for the protein. It’s pretty amazing how quickly we get full these days. I bought some smaller Corelle plates at Walmart yesterday. The only small plates I had were the Fiestaware and I don’t really like using those. They’re heavy and I don’t like putting them in the dishwasher . . simply because all the other dishes are Corelle and sticking them in there makes the dishwasher look messy and unorganized. I know . . I should get over that but it bothers me. Don’t even get me started on what happens when Vince sticks a dish in the dishwasher and I have to re-arrange things because he never puts it in the right place. It sounds like I’m a bit obsessive, right . . but I think I only remember him putting something in the dishwasher twice in 19 years of marriage. He probably knows how frustrating it is for me to have something in the wrong place . . like a fork mixed in with the spoons in the silverware basket! Yep . . I might have a bit of a problem there.
Tell me the truth . . are you a bit crazy when it comes to loading your dishwasher? If someone sticks something in the wrong place, do you re-arrange things so it’s where it’s supposed to be? Please say yes!
Anyway . . I now have Corelle smaller plates and they will look neat in the dishwasher so everything in my world is right again! 🙂
Tina in NJ says
Hubby loads the dishwasher, so I don’t have that problem.
Linda in NE says
Looks like yummy a lunch! I’m having a stir fry with chicken, onion, red bell pepper & broccoli over some rice.
My dishwasher gets loaded so as to hold as much as possible & still get clean. I never just put all spoons together because they nest together & don’t always come clean. Now, my DIL’s dishwasher is different, there is a separate little hole for each piece of silverware so nothing nests. Kind of aggravating though to have to put each piece in its own little hole. 🙂

Hubby runs our dishwasher. I don’t even look…therefore, I can’t offer advice. ‘Cause if I do too much advising …I’m asked if I want to do it? NO…you’re doing great! haha!
Your lunch look delish!

I am not allowed to put things into the dishwasher because according to the hubby I do it wrong! So I rinse the big chunks off and leave things on the counter next to the sink and let him have his way…
Jean Truchan says
My hubby refuses to put anything in the dishwasher as I am as fussy as you when it comes to the placement. We just can’t help it, can we? Guess we could have worse obsessions!
Joan from Alaska says
Yes, yes, YES, there is the right way to load the dishwasher and then there is HIS way, which is alway wrong! You would think he would learn not to bother trying to load as I am always rearranging what he has done. I know I should give him an A for effort, but it is just so dang frustrating! Don’t get me started about the right way and the wrong way to put the toilet paper roll in the TP holder!
Ruth says
I let my hubby load the dishwasher anyway he wants. If I think something won’t get clean the way he loaded it, I’ll move it, but I will take any help I can get. Can’t put all spoons together, they don’t come clean. I figure the person who is willing to put in the fresh toilet paper roll gets to decide which way it unrolls! Why should I worry about it?
I love hearing about your new eating plan! Thank you for sharing with us!
Libby in TN says
Not crazy about how I load, just looking to get the most in. But DH rearranges everything so I’ve just started letting him take care of the dishwasher. He also puts clean sheets on my bed and does at least half of the laundry, so I won’t complain about the DW.
Cindy Kuipers says
Your lunch looks yummy! I am happy when someone other than me puts things in the dishwasher. Doesn’t happen very often. Their excuse is they are afraid they will put things in wrong. I say I don’t care as long as it get in there. I rearrange things all the time even with I put the items in!
Sherrill Pecere says
No, I always figured if someone actually PUT something in the dishwasher besides me, I’d call it good!! I don’t use the dishwasher anymore since it’s just me and I can actually handwash the few dishes I use. I did used to get aggravated when DH washed the dishes as he’d leave the hot water running the entire time he was washing. Stupid, huh? Someone was washing the dishes and the running water bothered me..ugh.
Katie says
I don’t have a dishwasher (unless you’re counting me, but there’s no way any one could load dishes in me, lol). I am particular about the order I wash dishes in though. Always plates, silverware, and glasses first. Then any food containers and sharp objects. Finally, cooking pans because they tend for more grease or need to soak a bit.
Kathy L says
I rarely comment, but I have to wholeheartedly say “yes”.
Stephani in N. TX says
There is a good reason to be obsessive about items placed in the dishwasher. They need to get clean for one, and then there’s the unloading. Like size dishes placed together can be unloaded in way less time. And of course, it all has to fit. I am obsessive too about putting sharp knives blade down. I typed on a computer all day long till I retired and those hands could not be damaged so I encourage everyone to do that. Nothing like a big old bandage on the fingers to disrupt making a living, or quilting, or sewing, or making dinner. Good looking lunch. Real cute boots for Addie. Bet she loves her grandma.
Stephani in N. TX says
P.S I try to load/unload the dishwasher at my kiddos even if its not in my order. They have a new baby and it’s a chore I can help with.
Gayle Bong says
Yes Judy there is a right way to load the dishwasher. Mark will load and unload but doesn’t seem to notice he does it wrong and learn that he makes me rearrange his mess.
Lee Young says
YES!! Absolutely crazy about how things are arranged in the dishwasher. I’m thankful when hubs and/or son put their dishes in, but they only put them in the “right” places accidentally. Hubs will occasionally empty it, and I spend a week finding the dishes in the WRONG places in the cupboards & drawers!
Lisa S says
Yes, yes, yes on the dishwasher!
Dorothy Matheson says
We have two people and a tiny kitchen so no dishwasher at my house. Mother next door has big kitchen so cooking for more than DH and myself I go over there. Mother at 91 still won’t let me load her dishwasher. So I do not fight it. She stands there and we bring her the dishes.
She won’t even let me wash the things that do not get placed into the dishwasher at her house.
As for TP it winds off toward the wall as it keeps the kitties from playing with it and winding it off on the floor. At least most of the time.
Paula Philpot says
Yes, I like my dishwasher a certain way. Paula in ky

I, too, am a little obsessive when it comes to the dishwasher. I put all the silverware in order, it makes it so much easier when I go to unload it. I can tell in an instant when someone else puts a dish in! I’m not a neat-nick most of the time, but when it comes to the dishwasher, well, that’s a horse of a different color!
Jeri Niksich says
My dishwasher has been broken for about 4yrs, so I do them by hand. It’s just hubby and I at home now so it’s not to difficult. We can afford a new one but why bother , I’d either be running a 1/2 full washer or pulling things out to use before the washer was full. I am however going to buy a new stove/oven today, mine broke when I tried to use the demeaning feature…it locked the oven door and never got hot and will NOT unlock lol.
