Today Week 3 comes to an end. This was our “hit the wall” week . . for both of us. We weigh every day and some mornings I had gained .4 pounds, the next morning I had lost .5 pounds. It was pretty much that way all week. One day I ate a few unhealthy things — too much dried coconut from Aldi. It could have been worse . . it could have been a big bowl of Blue Bell ice cream and a Dr. Pepper. How’s that for justifying bad behavior? Seriously, a blog reader had told me about the Aldi dried coconut and I think I could live on that stuff. I should never have bought it but I did. At least I know where I went wrong and hopefully won’t do it again.
Other than the coconut incident, we both ended the week with good news. Vince lost 4.6 pounds last week so he’s down over 20 pounds for three weeks. I lost 1.8 pounds this week and my total loss in three weeks is 15.6 pounds.
Week 1: Lost 9.2 pounds
Week 2: Lost 4.6 pounds (13.8 total to date)
Week 3: Lost 1.8 pounds (15.6 pounds to date)
We knew and fully expected our weight loss to slow down. Losing one to two pounds per week is deemed to be healthy weight loss and as I said earlier, the first couple of weeks for me, the big drops were due to cutting out Dr. Pepper. As I’ve said, I was drinking 5 to 6 cans per day. That’s a lot of sodium, caffeine and sugar so getting those out of my diet contributed to losing almost 14 pounds in the first two weeks. The rest of my weight loss will be due to healthy eating and exercise.
Since the garden is not active (next week I’ll plant carrots, beets and lettuce), I had not been getting any exercise. Once I started tracking my steps per day, I was doing good to get in 1,000 steps a day. According to our exercise plan, we should be walking at least 7,500 steps per day. For me, that’s a bit over 3 miles a day and except for Tuesdays when I spend about 4 hours at my knitting group, I’m getting in 3 to 4 miles per day. It feels good . . really good, and I’m so surprised that I look forward to walking.
So . . there you have it . . my Week 3 Report!

I think you both are doing great.

Good Job. Weigh loss is lot harder than gaining.

My “gotcha” is dried mango. I could eat the whole bag in one sitting! (A bag is supposed to be 5 servings). What is worse is that it is sweetened. I need to stop buying it, but it’s so good!
