We hear sonic booms too often. We usually hear jets from the military base near us and then I’m kinda expecting a sonic boom. Sometimes they’re so loud they cause me to really jump and want to run for cover. A few weeks ago, there were two in a row and one was so loud, I walked outside to see if there had been an explosion right here . . maybe our propane tank.
Last night, we hadn’t head any noises in the air and we were sitting . . Vince was watching TV and I was knitting. All of a sudden, probably the loudest sonic boom I’ve heard! Vince said “What the heck was that?” I said . . either an explosion awfully close or a sonic boom.
See that 500 gallon propane tank right there? It’s the required distance from the house but still close. I said “Do you think you should go check the propane tank?”
Vince said “If that propane tank blew up, neither of us would be sitting here!” I looked at him and said “dead?” and he said “probably!”.
Hmmm . . maybe we should be having an electric heating unit installed and switching my beloved gas stove to electricity? I’m not worried . . it takes an really weird happening to cause a propane tank to explode . . and if that’s not true, please don’t tell me!

We used to live in the middle of nowhere. Ours was the only house on the dirt road. Years ago someone thought it would be interesting to see what happened if you shot a hole in the side of our propane tank. To their dismay – nothing. Just a bullet sized hole in the side where all of my expensive propane leaked out. We did leave the tank with the hole in it to the outer side of the new tank. They weren’t going to try it a second time with the new tank.

Vince looks like he’s having fun supervising. We lived near Alliance airport up here in N. Ft Worth and they’d have air shows once or twice a year. OMGOSH!! When those Blue Angels were practicing, I was constantly having to drop stuff to cover my ears. The noise was HORRIFIC!! I love our military but WOW, those jets are LOUD!! So glad I don’t hear that anymore.

i was outside around 12 pm today in aurora, when I heard a huge explosion that shook the ground, I didn’t hear sirens or any crashes. I’m not sure what it was but it was very scary. anyone else know what happened?

No sonic booms here, but lots of air traffic (esp. at night) to and from Fort Huachuca and those plane sound heavy and low. We’ve also seen fighter planes “playing” over our Playa here, very cool to watch!
Are those Texas Ranger bushes your hubby is sitting next to in one of the pictures? They are nice and big!!

No sonic booms here, but we occasionally have military planes practice touch and go landings at our airport. They are very loud and low.

We had our propane company bury the tank out by our garage. Isn’t much sticking up out of the ground.
