About a month ago, I had done something I rarely do . . I went to the mall and bought new clothes. Summer clothes were on sale; fall clothes were calling my name. I bought two pair of jeans because all my jeans were looking ragged. Several times, I had jeans on and Vince wanted to run to town and I thought . . I hope I make it home in these jeans without having a major rip. Since I’m such a creature of habit and I loved my old jeans, I had never even taken the tags off the new jeans. Monday, I tried them on and while they’re not so baggy I wouldn’t wear them, it won’t be long before that’s how they are so I decided to return them to Penney’s. We have a tiny little store here and when I went back, all the “normal” jeans were gone. They had rack after rack after rack of “skinny jeans”. I’m not built for skinny jeans . . never will be no matter how much weight I lose. I’ll always have thighs and hips that are bigger than they should be.
You need a pretty flat tummy to wear jeans that fit below the waist and not end up with a little muffin top hanging over. Plus . . raise your arms just a little and muffin top is exposed for the world to see . . not good!
I want jeans that come to my waist and aren’t skin tight around my thighs. Is that too much to ask? I’ll check at Walmart next time I’m there. I needed to go there while I was out yesterday but I have my three stop limit and I had already stopped at Penney’s, the vet and Kroger so Walmart will have to happen on my next trip to town.
I went digging through my closet. I thought I had plenty of the next size down jeans and I found 9 pairs. I breezed through that size so most of them didn’t get a lot of wear so I’m all set in the jean department for a few months. My current jeans still fit ok. They’re loose but I don’t think anyone would look at me and say “I hope those jeans don’t fall off her!”
My guess is, since the weight loss is slowing down, these next smaller size jeans will get me through Christmas. I found a couple of pairs of “church” pants that will work so I shouldn’t need to do any shopping for a while.

Try shopping the guys section, sometimes their jeans fit better then the skin tight womens.

Isn’t clothes buying such great fun? I commiserate with you, and can only say, “Good luck!”

There are some online clothing sites such as http://www.blair.com that seem to cater to grandma-types (like me). 🙂

I usually buy jeans from LL Bean. Their Double L jeans actually go up to your waist and cover and contain (!) the muffin top.

I just want jeans that come up to my waist–and in my humble opinion there are very few women in this world who look good in mid or low rise jeans–certainly not me!

I’m with you ladies, I want jeans to sit at my waist AND without spandex! I refuse to pay the expensive prices of brand name jeans. After a frustrating day trying on many jeans/pants I am going to try the men’s department.

LOL, a couple years ago I ventured to the mall (which gives me major anxiety issues) for some new Gap jeans…that’s all I wore for years, I’d find them at Goodwill, brand new, tags still on, for $1-2 a pair and they fit so perfectly. Not anymore, I don’t know what they did but not one style fits me right. I tried guys jeans, the thighs usually aren’t big enough, I’m thin but I’ve always had “thunder thighs.” Good luck! I’m still looking for my new brand, when I find them I’m buying my size & one up & down, just in case 😉

I found relaxed fit Lee jeans at Penney’s. LLBean is a good source, too.

Since I am tall, I always order my jeans online from Lee. They have wonderful jeans that actually go to the waist. Very frustrating shopping at the local stores.

Ladies if you want jeans that fit try these. They are made by Gloria Vanderbuilt. They are called Amanda. They come up to waist and aren’t tight in the legs just right. Me and all my friends now will only wear these. We find our size and get when on sale and like some else said at Goodwill hey even at resale stores. I’ve not got just about every color you can imagine. Most only cost me under 6 dollars but new ones I get for $16.00 at Khols when they have a sale. They are great ans wash and dry good. too. So give a pair of them a try someday. They will go on sale the day after Thanksgiving so can get online or at store cheap. Won’t be pretty spring colors but colors good for fall and winter.

I agree with Wanda J. I love the Amanda Jean. I’ve bought mine at Costco. I didn’t realize Kohl’s sells them too. That is such a great feeling when your clothes get loose. I need to get busy!!!
