Yesterday while we were out . . you knew that was going to happen, didn’t you? We went to Tractor Supply, which was really my fault, Big Lots and Aldi, which was also my stop, so I can’t complain but getting Vince out of a store not always easy. My strategy worked at Tractor Supply. I don’t necessarily love magazine subscriptions because it bothers me that after I receive my first issue, I start getting renewal notices which seem to continue through the rest of the year so even though it’s probably more expensive, I just pick up magazines when I see one I want.
There’s Southern Cast Iron, Grit and Heirloom Gardener. This was my first issue of Southern Cast Iron. I stood there thinking . . what could be in there that I can’t find on the internet but after thumbing through it, I was impressed. After putting three in the cart, Vince said “Are you getting ALL those?”Yes! “Those are expensive!” I then picked up Capper’s Farmer, which I also love and he said “Let’s go!” Mission accomplished. I saved Capper’s Farmer for next trip to Tractor Supply and you know there will be another trip soon. Some day he’s going to figure out that leaving me home is more economical than taking me with him!
Last night I was looking through either Grit of the Cast Iron magazine and saw a recipe for this dish.
I really doesn’t need a recipe but I wouldn’t have thought of it on my own. Simply slice a banana in half lengthwises, put it down on the griddle and grill it a bit, add strawberry ice cream and hot fudge. They also put chopped pistachios on top but I didn’t have those. it was delicious and it had to be better than cake or pie as far as healthy goes, right? Maybe not? OK .. it was delicious and that counts for something.
You know I don’t like chocolate but I do like some chocolate. Aldi has this hot fudge and I could eat this entire jar . . cold, hot, lukewarm . . I love this stuff and it must be one of those things that they have every now and then because they don’t have it now and this was my last jar I opened. Things could get ugly if I run out before they have more in stock . . which means . . hopefully they have more by the end of this week. 🙂
It’s so thick and so good . . and then you heat it up and it’s not so thick and tastes even better .. but it’s pretty darned good cold too.
I love Aldi . . especially when they have Hot Fudge in stock! 🙂

I am totally addicted to Aldi’s coconut pieces. It is by the dried fruit and nut snacks and is sent a few to a box with the dried pineapple or maybe mangos. It’s in a blue bag. Everyone loves it up here, so you sometimes have to dig into the unopened boxes to find it. When I do find it, I buy all but one, so the next person won’t be too disappointed. It is great as a snack when I want something a bit sweet but don’t want candy or chocolate.

Maybe you can find it on the internet and order some. It would be nice to have on hand 🙂
