Vince drives the old 2001 Honda CRV that had been my car before we got the Highlander in 2007. The Honda has some crazy setup in the back where you open the back hatch type door, and under a piece of carpet is a built in folding picnic table that comes out, has legs that fold down so I think part of it is attached to the car and part of it is standing on legs and underneath that is this big (really big) bowl looking thing where you can put ice and drinks or whatever.
I’m wondering how many 15 year old CRVs have that table/cooler thing that have never been used for its intended purpose! One for sure!
Today we went to United and several other grocery stores. We always take an ice chest with us but we hadn’t planned to get more roasted Hatch peppers and we didn’t want to put hot peppers in the ice chest because we wanted to put cold stuff in there since were going to several stores and it was HOT outside. Vince was saying they could double bag the peppers but lots of liquid still comes out of them and then I remembered the “cooler” that’s built in under the storage area. Perfect!
When I opened it up, there were two things that I now remember putting in there when we moved from Kentucky in 2006. I guess we haven’t even looked at that area in 10 years. Good thing we didn’t sell the car!
Chad has always loved anything “eagle”. He was probably 6 or 7 years old and I ordered him an eagle knife that you hang on the wall. By the time we moved from Kentucky to Missouri, I was thinking . . that’s a big knife, Chad was 17 and the way we’ve been getting along, he may use it to hang me up by my heels so I think I’ll just put it somewhere and leave it til he has a place of his own. I guess I put it in a good hiding spot because there it was . . all taped up by the movers before I grabbed it and said “I’ll put that somewhere safe!”
The other thing in the back was Vince’s giant sock. When I first decided to make a pair of socks for Vince, I thought . . just a little bigger here and there than my socks. All feet are the same basically . . just bigger or smaller. I was still a fairly new sock knitter and obviously had no idea what I was doing. Here’s Vince’s giant sock next to one of my socks.
That sock is HUGE. Big Foot would love it! From the day I gave it to him til the day I “put it in a safe place”, Vince would drag it out and show people . . Look at the sock Judy made for me! I’m kinda sorry we found it.
This story gives you some indication of how much “stuff” we have around here that we’ve totally forgotten about some we may find some day, some we may never find.

My friend says that would make a good “Santa sock”! ????

I was thinking what Rebecca said about the sock. I’m sure there’s tons of stuff (even after moving 3 years ago) that my kids will find someday and go “WHAT?!!”. Oh well, I don’t care. LOL My Pontiac Aztek (which I LOVED but most thought it UGLY) had a tent thingy that attached to the hatch and a nice cushy little air mattress that fit the back area. Pretty cool but it didn’t get much use either.

Had one of those CRVs, used the table once I think.

LOL! This post is definitely a “day brightener”……and I can totally relate to those “safe places” we come up with that fade into the past without any clue/recall of said maneuver! We are funny critters!!!!!

Too funny!! Won’t Chad be surprised when you give it to him on your next visit.

You had me at the big sock! Cracked me up! I can relate…sometimes when you make something, you are not sure how it is going to turn out!
Thanks for the great stories! Glad you are enjoying Texas. – from a hill country Texas girl.

Thanks for yet another belly laugh! Better Half is giving me that “look” because I can’t stop giggling – mostly about the sick but also the visuals of other hidden treasures that are coming to mind…along with the idea of you calling the young man’s mother whom you’ve never even met! 😀
