Yesterday I was talking to Nicole and she was telling me about something Chad had built. She said “You know how he gets some crazy idea about something he wants to build and he builds it and it always turns out amazing?” I was thinking . . yep “amazing” means something totally different to an adoring wife than what it means to a mom who’s living room, garage or back yard has been taken over by one of Chad’s “inventions”.
I was looking on the blog for something else and came across the blog post from 6 years ago about Chad’s duck boat that he built when we were in MO. It took up a big chunk of Vince’s shop for weeks! Then it had to be stored somewhere because you could turn it upside down and slide it under the deck!
He painted up his “boat”. He went out in the woods and around the water and gathered up all kind of “thing” to camouflage his duck boat. I don’t remember if he had everything tied up or glued in there but he was so proud of it. I had forgotten about that flapping duck you can see in the bottom right of the picture.
It kinda reminds me of the old Johnny Cash song “We Built it One Piece at a Time“. I can just imagine the ducks and geese flying over and thinking “What the heck??”
Maybe he built something to hold all the vegetation and took it out when he wasn’t hunting. I can’t remember.
But this picture . . it’s kinda shocking how much they’ve both changed in 6 years. I know . . we all have but seeing them together and knowing how much older and different they look now.
I love having the blog and being able to go back and look at what was happening in our lives for the past 10 years. Lots of smiles on these blog pages.

Vince, as he’s looking at that boat, looks like he must be thinking ‘oh boy, what the heck’.

I was wondering if you had a deck tall enough for all that grass he had stuck on it. It doesn’t look short…it would make sense if he had a way to remove/store that part of it.
