This was the yarn I had chosen.
I wasn’t sure if there was enough contrast and there was no way to really know til I started the pattern.
Not far into the project, I knew it wasn’t going to work well but the yarn felt so good, I wanted it to work and I kept going.
The design just wasn’t standing out enough. When I got up yesterday morning, even before it was daylight, I went over to the sewing room, dug through the fingering weight yarn and found Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock in Patina and Navy, which happens to be real close to Georgia Tech’s colors (where Vince got his undergrad degree). He doesn’t want hand knitted socks but I can make them for myself!
Much better and this yarn feels good too but not as good as the first yarn which had cashmere!

It would have been difficult for me to change from the original choice …..it was such pretty colors. I also know if one isn’t content it is difficult to finish a project. Have an awesome day!

He really needs some CLEMSON socks! Go Tigers! We have orange blood and are about 5 miles from Clemson.

Yep, he has Masters from both Clemson and Tulane. I could stay busy knitting school colors for Vince for a very long time.

I like your second choice too. Too bad Vince doesn’t want hand made socks. He doesn’t know what he’s missing. My DH is the same way.
