There are bugs and snakes in Missouri, but things in Texas seem a little bigger and more scary to Addie. So far, Chad caught a tarantula.
Addie thought that was the coolest thing.
Nicole had a big lizard that almost ran up her leg when she was on the porch putting on her shoes.
Chad brought a big UV light and he’s been out every night searching for scorpions. I had convinced myself that Cat had been keeping them away but I think the batteries are so low in my little UV light that I haven’t been seeing them. Chad has killed 3 or 4 good sized scorpions every night outside and I killed a good sized one in the kitchen Sunday night.
Addie got into fire ants . . the Texas critters are out in full force this time of year, and they aren’t very welcoming.

After your company leaves go to Lowes and get Over and Out. Am sure you already have a walk behind spreader, it if not get one of those too. I am not saying treat your entire acreage…..just your front and back yard. You may have to do this two or three times, but it will work. Had those evil fire ants in ET when we purchased the house and it worked there. It took me really staying at them that first year, but they finally got the message they were not welcome.

We saw some very impressive scorpions in Texas once, but the biggest tarantulas I ever saw were at the San Diego GS camp.

Heavens to Betsy, Judy! How are you even alive?!

I’m with Tricia… How the hell do you do it? I’d be a quivering mass of terror.
