Every time I go out now Cat comes and rubs on my legs. You know that when he first showed up almost exactly a year ago, it was like . . I think I saw a cat! Then he began showing up about every third morning for food and then sometimes in the evening. Now, he rarely leaves. He’s either on top of my car, and then when it gets too hot, he gets under my car. No matter what he’s doing, when I go outside, which is a million times a day, he comes up to me and rubs on my legs.
This morning when I went to feed him, I sat down on the table where he eats and he kept brushing against my legs. Vince was already gone and I figured if he (Cat . . not Vince) attacked me, I’d be better off if Vince was here to help me so I didn’t try to pet him. But, when I got up to leave this morning, he kept getting in front of me like he was trying to stop me from walking away.
Tonight, again I sat down on his table and he came up and I showed him my hands and he sat there and I was able to pet him on the head, rub his back, scratch around his ears. I was pretty nervous . . Cats can turn on you in an instant. I have scars from stitches I got when a cat attacked me already. He didn’t purr but he wanted me to keep doing it and again, he tried to get in front of me when I started to leave.
I believe we are friends! I still won’t startle him. I’ll be cautious with him . . probably forever. Being a tortie, they seem to have a bit of an attitude and I’ll always respect that.
I’m thinking . . there’s a mountain lion living in the woods. We’ve seen it once. Maybe I’ll try to tame him. I’m pretty good at this, don’t you think? 🙂

Awww, I think Cat wanted to be petted, but had to overcome his fear of being hurt. So happy you were able to convince him you were the best friend he could ever dream of having!

Yeppie for you both. Now things will only get better for the both of you. I’m sorry you had a cat attack you way back when. That must have been horrible to have happen. In all my years I’ve never seen or heard of that happening. But now I have. I’ve had loads of cats at one time 15 outside. No they weren’t mine really but they stayed at my house because they got treated better. All mine have always been fixed. I now understand why some people are so afraid of cats. never knew why before.
GOOD KITTY GOOD KITTY FROM NOW ON.

Maybe the mountain lion is why Cat is getting friendly. I’m super happy for both you and Cat.

Are you Crazy, tame a mountain lion??? Lol Persistence has paid off for you but I’m with you I’d still be wary.
Linda in NE says
Cat has decided you belong to him/her now, but I’d leave the big cat alone if I were you. 🙂 (I know you were just kidding.)
