Monday . . . the longest day of 2016. It seems about halfway split on who likes the longer days and who doesn’t. I do NOT like like long days, simply because at 9:00 p.m., I’m usually dragging my tired and dirty self in from the garden. By the time I cool down, take a shower and do a few chores in the house, it’s past my bedtime. Then I have to get up before daylight or Mother Nature wins at my game of “Who’s Up Before Sunrise” and I’m a bad loser!
I love the shorter days, when I’m in the house by 7 or even earlier and I have time to sit and relax and knit and read and don’t feel like I’m chasing my tail all day trying to get things done.
Yesterday our heat index was about 112º. Not only am I ready for shorter days but I’m ready for cooler days . . and this is just June so I’d better cool my jets and find a way to keep from melting in this miserable heat.
Fall is coming . . I can make it through summer . . I know I can!

Just the opposite here like to be out early morning and evenings to get anything done. In the house during the worst part of the heat of the day!

I enjoy the longer days because our winter days end so soon. At winter solstice, it is 4.15. And it is also v usually very wet.

I’d give up that “up before the sun” game and come in earlier in the evening to have some time to relax a little even if it is still daylight. What doesn’t get done today will wait until tomorrow.

I am with you Judy. That is why I don’t like daylight savings time.

Life is too short to be miserable. You no longer punch a time clock so why not change your “rules” and lifestyle to make life easier. Only you can do that!

I agree–my favorite days are in the fall/winter. Sunlight that goes on forever is awful for me–I have a reverse SAD, less light makes me feel better. Odd, I know! But, I don’t teach in the summer, so I get more time to sew. 🙂

I never win at the Mother Nature game this time of year. Our sun rises at around 3:00 am and sets around 2:00 am. But with 10:00 am sunrises in December, I have her beat every day! I love, love, love the summer with its 20 hour gardening days, but by about August, I am starting to look forward to the less frantic days of winter spent knitting in front of the fire.
