Yesterday I was out watching the baby chicks. There’s never a time when I’m out there that watching their little fluffy butts and their activities make me smile and sometimes laugh out loud.
This mom has one baby so she must be babysitting one of the three from the bantams. She’s teaching them to scratch for bugs.
Scratch a little and stand back and watch for bugs that may have been uncovered. It’s so cute to watch those babies. They’ll scratch a little but mostly they just stand there and look to see what the mom digs up.
It’s hard to believe that with these chickens running loose, all four babies have survived but so far, they have.

Brings a smile to my face, too!!

They look like they could be twins from the picture. So they’re free-ranging and not within the confines of the fence?

Recently I had a chance to visit Hawaii with my Mom and siblings. She was turning 90 and we were celebrating her birthday. You would have loved Hawaii. Chickens run wild everywhere. City parks, along the road, front yards. We saw lots of Moms with as many as 6 to 9 babies with them.

Are they running completely loose now, not penned at all?

I love to sit outside at my daughter’s house and watch the chickens with her. They are so funny!
