Good grief . . we have severe weather warnings so often this time of year and they almost always go around us. There has to be some weather phenomenon that causes rain, storms, snow, sleet . . whatever . . to split just before it gets to us. Until . . yesterday! Oh, my did we get a storm. We got to try out Rita’s new meds and we’ve all unanimously decided that next storm .. Vince and I are taking the meds and Rita can do what she wants. I gave her half of the pill, as instructed, and within minutes, she was a crazy dog. She was jumping and barking at things that did not exist. I thought maybe she was seeing her shadow so I closed all the blinds . . something we never do because there’s no one to look in. Vince said . . next time we’ll give her speed and maybe she’ll calm down since the doggie xanex seemed to hype her up.
We had hail, we had rain, we had wind and thunder and lightning and more rain and thunder and lightning.
It’s probably hard to tell from the picture but that’s all green leaves knocked out of the tree. I couldn’t get out to the garden because it was just too muddy and slippery so I have no idea what it looks like.
About 8:30 last night, this is what the sky looked like before the next round of storms came through. Different, huh?
We have storms predicted off and on today, through Thursday.
I think Speck has stumbled upon the solution . . stick your head inside the pillowcase and just sleep through it all!

Hooray for Speck!

That is SO FUNNY!! I can just see you and V downing the xanax with an adult beverage to wash it down. You guys’d be so chillin’ and Rita’d totally be running amuck with Speck in his pillowcase. What a picture! We had 65-70 mph winds here with sirens going off, power outages (not me, thank heavens) and more coming in tonight and tomorrow. WHEE!!

As you know some people act totally different with some drugs.Sounds like this happens to poor little Rita. You might have to give her just the opposite.
When I worked at hospital we had people do this exact same thing. Sometimes it took awhile for someones light bulb to go off and figure it out.
It is like me with coffee. It puts me to sleep. Yep so maybe give Rita the opposite and see what happens. Just a thought. I feel sorry for her she must really be frighten to death .

maybe Rita just needs a little “wine” to calm her down. I love Speck’s solution. Glad you made it thru the storm.

Human Xanax affects me the way doggie Xanax affected Rita. I know how she felt! (and it’s not fun) Poor girl. The vet may have a different happy pill for her to try.

I love Speck’s way of dealing with it. Last night’s sky was rather eerie! Oddly enough, we (here in North Alabama) have had a very quiet and tornado free year for three years running now. I’d just as soon keep it that way!! Stay safe!! 🙂

Poor Rita! Is she food motivated enough that a special treat, like a Kong filled with peanut butter, might get her to associate storms with treats?
