Several of our bluebird boxes have nests.
Some have four eggs, some have one eggs and some have no eggs.
The one with no eggs, I’ve been by that one several times and have not seen a mama bird so I need to watch it and see if it’s been abandoned. It doesn’t look finished and there doesn’t seem to be much activity around it.
And then there are the squatters . .
If the hole is too small and you can’t fit through it, just chisel out the hole and make it bigger! Vince ordered some metal rings to put over the hole to keep other birds from doing that but . . he hasn’t had a chance to put them on yet.
It’s so exciting to have the bluebirds back, to watch the boxes fill up with nests and then see the babies hatch, grow and fly away!

I have a pair of eastern screech owls in my owl house. But it’s up so high there’s no way to see what’s goin’ on in there. Wish I had come kind of owl cam to see inside the box.

You are so lucky to get bluebird families. We put up several houses and all we got were other small birds and we even knew there were bluebirds in our immediate yard. They had made their own nests and holes in old fence posts surrounding our acreage even before we moved to this house. Haven’t seen them for a few years though since I gave up on my big garden when I started quilting for others.

They’ve been coming get back for the 4 years the boxes have been up. My brother made them for me as a Christmas present. Best present ever.
