The cold snap we had last week didn’t seem to be detrimental to the fruit trees that were already blooming, mainly the peach trees.
This is the time of year when I absolutely love everything about my home – the garden, the orchard, the weather. My blinders are on and I’m not even letting myself think that in just a few short months, we’ll be roasting . . for now, I’m basking in the here and now.
The peach trees with their baby pink blooms . . at least four times yesterday I went out and took pictures, trying to capture the beauty of those pink blossoms. The sun was bright and with the little pocket camera I was using, the color was a bit washed out.
The trees are just full of bees! When you get within about 12′ of the trees, you can hear the buzzing. We love those bees and there seems to be a very good number of bees around here. I wish we could get a few hives of our own established.
Not only are the plum trees blooming but look at the gorgeous blue sky. Spring is what keeps me in Texas. Oh . . and the job! 🙂
We have two crabapple trees. We planted two that were the same but one of them died and we replaced it with a different type crabapple. This is the first one we planted and it made a good number of crabapples last year. I thought the blossoms were the prettiest of all our fruit trees.
The newest crabapple has even prettier blossoms.
They are a deep burgundy and remind me of tiny little rosebuds.
The blueberries (sorry for the blurry picture) are about ready to bloom but I don’t have much hope for them. They’re within reach of our high jumping chickens and I have a feeling they’re going to munch on blueberries all day unless we put up little chicken wire fence around them.
I hope you don’t get tired of seeing the fruit and veggie pictures. I could spend every waking moment just walking around watching things grow.
After a long, hot, dry summer, with grass burs everywhere, it’s nice to see the orchard all cleaned up, weeds cut, trees trimmed and fertilized, fresh mulch added. Vince has worked really, really hard and it shows and I appreciate all the work he does.

Love the fruit and veggie pictures. We only have one peach tree, a dwarf Honey Babe, and its blooms are gorgeous right now. Our apricot is blooming, too, but not as showy. Still, when I look at it I think, “Mmmm, apricots!”

I love the fruit and veggie pictures. I live in North Dakota and our growing season is so short, I have to live vicariously through other people.

Thanks for sharing your spring photos! It’s 40 degrees here and we’re expecting an inch of snow on Friday, so I won’t see blooms here for weeks and weeks.
