Anyone still working on Hitofude? If so, will you please check in and let me know where you are and if you’re having any changes, and if you’ve made any modifications.
Saturday, February 20, is when we are supposed to be to the point of the underarm seams. I will not have much internet time this weekend so any of you who are past that point, please check in if you have a chance and see if anyone is needing help. My guess is that most of you who are doing the project have already reached that point.
The last time I had worked on mine was early in the first week of February . . around the 2nd or 3rd. Then I got sick. Then by the time I was feeling better, Vince was sick and home from work. Today I feel good. Vince has gone back to work and I’m back to working on my Hitofude. I just finished Chart B (though I was still working on Chart A when the above photo was taken).
To make mine longer without making additional fullness, and because I don’t have much extra yarn, I’m doing the following extras below the “waist” ribbing”:
- For my size, instead of doing 4 repeats of Chart A, I did 5.
- For Chart A, instead of doing it once, I did it once and then did Rows 9 – 16 again.
- For Chart B, instead of doing it once, I will do it once and then do Rows 9 – 16 again.
I think that’s all the increases I’m going to do. That’s actually 8 rows more than I did on the first Hitofude and I liked it so I’m going to see how I like making this one just a tad longer.
I’m already thinking about a third one!

I’m plugging along — just finished my 10th repeat on the sleeves (out of 14) so I should be in good shape for the 20th. It’s a bit repetitive, but I keep reminding myself that I’m doing the whole sweater in one piece, and that makes it better!

I’m working along. I actually started early, because I didn’t think I’d be able to keep up. But I’m just finishing up my first chart B round now, so I’m a bit ahead. Not sure the sizing is going to work out – I swatched it, and went up a size because my swatch was a bit small, but I don’t think that’s having the effect I hoped.
Question – if you swatch and the pattern is long enough, but not wide enough, how do you fix it? Does it mean my yarn is too thin? Going up a needle size seemed it would make the swatch longer, but not much wider (although I didn’t actually try that)

I have barely started. Maybe I will get some time this week to work on it some more.

I’m working on mine, but I’ve had too much other stuff to do in between, so I’m only on about the 7th repeat on the arm/top section. I need to pick up the pace!

Started it, messed up somewhere so now I frogged it and need to begin again. Sigh

I forgot to mention that I messed up reading the chart. Rather than doing SSK on the second decrease, I did K2T both times. So my lace-work is a bit lopsided. Didn’t notice until I was starting chart B, so I’m going to stick with it and pretend it was intentional 🙂

No one will ever notice .. except you.

Started chart c last evening. Think I’m going to try working some length onto as I go down. Am thinking of what color I want to do for another one. Want a color that will go with everything. Saw a picture yesterday on Raverly of one with shorter sleeves for the summer time. To many ideas!!!

Yay — I bound off the first sleeve and am getting ready to “unzip” the big chain! One question about the pattern, though.
In the instructions for the left sleeve (page 3, top) you leave 1 stitch on the right hand needle, PM, and then knit to end. But for the right sleeve, it says to knit all stitches on the spare needle, knit one, slip marker — shouldn’t the “slip marker” come before the “knit 1”?
Thanks!

never mind! I think I see how it works now…
the perils of reading ahead!
