Vince is still home sick. I’m sorry he feels so bad, I’m sorry I gave him whatever I had and I’m truly not complaining, but today has been super busy for me. Vince did muster the energy to open a bottle of juice that I couldn’t open so it’s a good thing he was home. I would have eventually got it open had he not been here but it was nice to hand it to him to open for me, and now he can say he did accomplish something today. 🙂
This morning about 10, I began chopping and dicing . . and peeling. Shrimp, sausage, celery, onions, peppers . . a jambalaya was going to be served for lunch.
Then Vince said “I think I want soup for lunch. Do we have any chicken noodle soup?” He began rummaging through the pantry . . like he thought there was some chance there was a can of storebought chicken noodle soup in there! I said “I can make you some soup . . if you let me put broccoli in it!” He didn’t care because as he said “I can’t taste anything anyway!” That should have been my clue — open a jar of chicken broth, dump in spaghetti noodles and call it done.
No, I opened a jar of home canned chicken, shredded that, sauteed the celery and onions that had been intended for the jambalaya, and made him a yummy pot of chicken, noodle, broccoli soup. It was pretty tasty and there’s enough left for another lunch.
Then I began chopping more celery and onions and remembered that the kombucha was pay past due for making so I put aside the chopping and dicing and made kombucha.
The kitchen is a disaster . . total and absolute mess . . but the shrimp are thawed and peeled so I must make a jambalaya for dinner. You can see sausage and onions sitting behind the kombucha fixings.
The jambalaya is now simmering. It’s almost time to put the chickens up for the night and turn off the water hoses. Soon, we will eat and hopefully there will be some time for knitting before bedtime.
One thing for sure is that we have plenty of leftovers for the weekend and I shouldn’t have to cook but somehow, I’m betting I do end up cooking!
