Addie may not even like dressing and undressing her dolls but just in case . . this Granny is getting ready. I’m not getting the “real” American Girl doll for quite a few years (if ever) but my friend who’s been off to a bigger town found an 18″ doll for Addie.
That is Gift #1 for Christmas, 2016. How’s that for early shopping? What I plan to do is make the doll and Addie some matching outfits, pajamas and bags.
One place I found that has cute patterns and the pattern for this adorable dress form is Pixie Faire.
Isn’t that the cutest thing?
One way for me to curb one obsession seems to be to start another obsession. I went from quilting to knitting and maybe now to doll clothes. Oh well . . so long as I’m having fun . . that’s what matters, right. And, making doll clothes will at least use a little of my fabric.

also in case you’re not aware not all 18″ dolls have same measurements AG’s may or may not be different from other “brands”

This is probably the last birthday that my niece will want things for her American Girl dolls. I finished the cutest garment bag including four padded hangers yesterday and have one dress to make before Saturday night. Then no more as she will be 10. She likes homemade things thankfully.

My Granddaughters are now 12 and 15 so those days are over for me, so sad! I had picked up 2 American Girl dolls in perfect condition, 99% of their accessoriesfor $5.00 each at a garage sale, I know, right. I saw them, put them under my arm, paid and ran, lol. The girls were thrilled and wanted a new outfit each time they came to visit. Have fun with this, the time goes so fast. Lucky Addie!

Check Ravelry; there are knitted patterns for 18″ dolls, some with matching patterns for the girls. Even doll leg warmers! I used leftover material from my daughter’s dresses to make ones for her doll. She was never as into the dolls as I’d hoped.

Pixe Fair have the best patterns. Evert Friday the offer a free pattern for one day. I send my Grand Niece outfits for each holiday. Shirts and tops or a dress. Lots of fun and you do use some fabric but I can always find new fabric that would be cute. Have fun.

I found this site not long ago and made my daughter the Samantha nightgown for Christmas. They are the “real” American Girl doll patterns so the fit is just right.

My oldest granddaughter surprised us with the news she is expecting a girl in April.. although the timing is not the best.. no father will be in the picture (she is only 19)I have decided that I will be lucky and be able to know this little girl much longer than my great grandparents knew me.. I loved making doll clothes so hopefully in a couple years I will be making lots of doll clothes.

cool. and dolls need quilts, too. so maybe that will spark your interest in quilting again. if not, can i come play in your stash? i am sure i could help you get quite a bit in the used up column.

I make 18″ doll clothes for my youngest Granddaughter. Love the outfits at Liberty Jane , and Nancy’s Notions has a cute 18″ doll clothing pattern book. There are several online places to go .. Also check out Pinterest.
I found measuring the doll and making a copy of the shape (as not all 18″ dolls are the same) really helped with sizing. I bought a rolling suitcase and turned it into her rolling closet for all her outfits and shoes.

Joanne fabrics have these types of doll clothes patterns in McCalls, Butterick, or Simplicity pattern books. I used to buy then when they were on sale for $1.99. They have fairy tale patterns, snow white, cinderella, little red riding hood.etc. Present time era, pioneer times, p.j., robe, Indies. Each pattern has several things to make in each one. I think there was also patterns to make for furniture. American girl website also has patterns.. My daughters had Kristen and Sametha A.G. dolls with the storybook telling about their life. There’s a really cute A.G. baby doll. My kids loved their Cabbage Patch dolls which they still have. I think you can still buy them.

Thanks for the link to the Pixie Faire website. I’ve never made doll clothes but am looking forward to starting for my granddaughter. I’m looking forward to seeing what you make on the blog.
