The Hitofude Cardigan was added to my queue in November, 2013. It was only because of the Eat, Sleep, Knit Knit Alongs that I ended up knitting it. I’m not sure I would ever have done it had it not been for the KAL. The pattern is definitely not hard, but getting started seemed to be intimidating for me. This is one of those times when you definitely have to trust the designer because almost every step of the way, for sure during the first half, I had no idea why I was doing what I was doing. The construction is totally brilliant but just as totally unconventional.
Despite a mistake on my part that resulted in ripping this back and starting over, it has been a fun and intriguing knit and I can’t wait to knit another one. I’m hoping that after having done one, it will make more sense and I won’t be quite so “in the dark” while knitting a second one.
I was thinking we could start February 1 . . if there’s enough interest in several of us doing this together. You can move at your own pace. There will be no rushing, no deadlines – just someone else to talk to about issues and problems you may have.
This is a light and airy sweater and would be great for spring and summer in most places.
I am going to make another one even if no one wants to do it with me. I have several yarn options . . won’t even have to buy yarn to do it. Please leave a comment here if you’re interested in knitting along with me.

I would love to knit this sweater. It is in my queue as well and a KAL would give me the kick in the butt I need.

That one is in my favorites, and several of my friends have made one. I’d likely be up to do one.

Hmmm, is it a sign that this pattern is already in my Ravelry library? I don’t remember buying it, but there it is. I’m going to check the yarn supply and see if there is enough of something pretty to do this, and you can count me in. I have to finish a sweater I am making for my DS, but I only have one sleeve left. I could easily start in February.

Maybe. But I just learned to purl a couple of weeks ago. Maybe it’s too difficult for me. And my daughter wants me to make her a regular crew neck sweater. We’re going to go look for yarn for that tomorrow. Maybe I could work on both around the same time. It’s an interesting thought, though. Right now I’m struggling with my first sock. I’ll have to rip that out and start over, probably a couple more times.
So I think I’m going to wait and hope you do another KAL when I have more confidence!

I’m so glad you’re doing this, Judy! I got the yarn & pattern for mine this year, but just never did it. And I think it will be great to have for Spring/Summer use. Count me in!

Sure, I bought the yarn in the spring but never quite got started. I’m making it for my daughter who is (thankfully) the smallest size!

I have been meaning to make this for a couple years also. A knit along sounds like just the gentle nudge I need to get started! Count me in.

I’m in – I think. I have had the pattern for some time, just need to find the yarn, and the time! I’ll look forward to making a start, and following along with everyone else anyway. Thanks for the offer Judy, all the best, Elaine.

I’m in too!

I would love to join! I’ve had my eyes on that pattern and I’ve been checking out yarn for years.
Karen says
I think I will join you. I’ve purchased the pattern and will read Julia York’s info and then order my yarn. Woo Hoo! this will be my first sweater project.

I’ve knitted swatches for this several times over the last year but keep getting intimidated when I look at the whole pattern. I picked out yarn for it tonight, then again convinced myself to start another project instead – then I happened onto this …..so maybe this is what I need to get started. I’m in, too!
