Nicole and I have tried every angle to figure out what kind of oval Addie is talking about. Nicole asked her where she saw the oval . . at daddy’s work. Great. Walmart. That should make it easy to find. Nicole took her to Walmart and they spent hours walking up and down the toy aisles. Addie was one distracted little girl! She wanted . . or rather NEEDED . . everything she saw and soon forgot about finding an oval.
Nicole asked her what color is the oval you want? Blue. That would help except Addie refuses to learn her colors.
I asked her . . what do you do withe oval? Play with it. Well, that narrows it down.
Thanks to Claudia who mentioned Osmo. That looks really cool. Nicole showed it to Addie and she promptly declared that she NEEDS that but no, that is not the oval she’s wanting.
What we now know is that it may or may not be blue. She saw it at Walmart and it’s something to play with.
A few days later, Nicole drew a big oval and was hoping that they could start with that and get more info from Addie. Nicole showed it to her and Addie said “Thanks! That’s what I wanted!”
I feel there’s more to this. She said she saw it at daddy’s work. Was it a big oval on a sign? Was it a toy or something else she saw?
I’ve so loved your comments and things your children or grandchildren asked for from Santa . . a dime, a sandwich, the child who asked for a cake, a mirror and a reindeer! Kids really do say the funniest things.

This would make a good mini mystery tv series.

Would she be asking for a hula hoop?

Could it be a blue oval mirror? My grandson loved to watch himself in the mirror when he was her age and Addie seems like she would too! They practice those “looks” they give us!

Could it possibly be an oval above ground pool? That would be blue.

my grand girls have a blue plastic shovel that came in a set with a rake and a hoe for the sandbox.

When I hear “blue oval” I automatically think “Ford”. As in their emblem/logo. Could it have been a belt buckle? You’ve got us all dying of curiosity!

My grandson wanted a “hair brush” for Christmas. Turned out he wanted a Crayola Air Brush set.

Olaf? He is a cute snowman and she might recognize him from Frozen.

That’s what I thought, Olaf.

It’s a Ford, that’s the blue oval logo! She must have seen it in the parking lot. Now, that was the easy part… what make and model would Addie like her “blue oval” to be on? See, it’s getting harder already. Merry Christmas, Judy!

I couldn’t help but think she is saying Owl but then someone said Olaf. Of course we don’t know how clearly she speaks. What is in now may be out by Christmas. Ask her for that list again maybe the Oval will be out!

The Ford logo is in a blue oval. Maybe she wants a truck for Christmas.

May be Chad has put her up to the Blue Ford Oval. She would need someone to driver her around.

I used to despair of my son ever learning his colors. I actually had him tested to see if he was color-blind. Nope – just not interested in learning them. Finally, in a fit of inspiration, I bought a bag of M&Ms, poured them on the table, and told him he could eat any that he could correctly name. Less than 48 hours later, he knew his colors!

I’ve heard a similar story many times from my parents & various family members. As a young child my only request for Christmas was a “PRS!” No one including Santa Claus could figure out what a “PRS” was so I did not get one for Christmas. Months after Christmas when we were shopping I excitedly pointed at a shelf of toys & said “There’s my “PRS!” It was a large metal top w/ a suction cup on the bottom & a round handle on top of metal pole that you pumped up & down into the top to make it spin faster & faster. When you let go of the handle it continued to spin until it ran down. In writing about this now I don’t remember ever receiving a “PRS”

Just saw an Old Navy ad… Blue oval!! Now I’m hot on the trail too, you’re welcome Addie! ????

I thought for sure it was going to be an oven so she can cook like her grandma does.
My funny story about my daughter when she was learning to talk. She would ask for “this”. And we couldn’t figure why she called her pacifier “this”. One day I realize she learned to call the pacifier “this” from me. I would ask her as I hold the pacifier “Do you want this?”. Maybe it is something she picked up from her mom or dad and they aren’t aware that is what they are naming it by saying oval. Oh I know–she wants an oboe. I am looking forward to when this mystery is solved.

I was guessing along with everyone else, until you mentioned she “refuses” to learn her colors. That’s when I remembered that she is a very young girl, and “oval” is a pretty sophisticated shape! That makes me think that it’s something that only sounds like oval. Sorry to muddy the waters!
