The day isn’t over but I’m done shopping . . so says my husband . . who, by the way, is still shopping online. It’s cold, rainy, blustery day here but we’re lucky . . lots of ice and accidents just a couple hours north of us. We haven’t left the house but thanks to the internet, we’ve taken advantage of a few deals.
I did buy a second Instant Pot. As I’ve mentioned often, I use it every day and often I have the Instant Pot and the Cuisinart going but the Instant Pot is my favorite.
Some of the yarn shops had amazing sales. Madelinetosh has 30% off all their yarn so I bought a bit there and Eat, Sleep, Knit has their mystery discount sale so I bought a few things there.
My biggest purchase, both in time and cash, was a new wheat grinder.
I didn’t start out planning to buy another grain Mill. I already have the Family Grain Mill and I use it fairly often but I was looking at the WonderMill because it is fairly inexpensive and will grind corn. I currently have to use the Vitamix to grind corn because the Family Grain Mill is not supposed to be used for dent corn. I use the corn that we grow for our grits and cornbread. But then I read the review on the WonderMill and while they weren’t bad, somehow I got sidetracked and ended up at the KoMo 21 Fidibus grain mill. I use the KoMo Flic Floc for rolled oats and love it. Ever since I got it, I’ve been kind of enamored with the looks of their grain mills, even though, as we all know, looks don’t really matter when it comes to quality and performance. I was pretty sold on the Fidibus 21 . . folks who have them love them. I like my Family Grain Mill fine but I think I can get a finer flour with the KoMo grinders.
I was all set to order the Fidibus 21 and then I realized . . wait . . it doesn’t grind dent corn either. It has a smaller motor than most of the KoMo grinders. It would serve me just fine if wheat is all I would ever grind but I do want to grind corn.
I ended up doing more research and decided to go with the KoMo Classic.
The Fidibus Classic has a 360 watt motor vs. the 250 watt motor on the Fidibus 21 and it will grind dent corn, as well as most any grain I would consider grinding.
This is the one I have so you can see how different the two look.
Oh, that picture makes me so thankful for my solid countertops.
As with anything I buy, I can’t wait for it to get here so I can try it out.Hopefully all the rolls from Thanksgiving will be gone by the time it arrives!
