You’ll have to read the post one or two before this one to understand it! Before I left the house, I sent Vince an email to tell him I’d be in the sewing room so he didn’t worry about me if he called and couldn’t get me. I got this in response:
Check your computer and load the updates
Check my computer? Load the updates? What is he thinking? I’m doing good to turn the darned thing on and do the few things I need to do. He probably isn’t going to be happy that I closed out that window that said something about “load the updates”.
I think I’ll just say “I loaded them all. The computer said ‘Good job!’ and I’m using it and everything is fine”.
EQ works. The printer works. I now have email working. That’s about all I need from this old relic. Oh . . and it would be of great benefit to me if someone would leave all the new fangled stuff off my computer! 🙂
I know . . he’s trying to help and I’ll be the first one squawking because some program I want to use doesn’t work on my old OS but really, I’m at the point where I want all my stuff to keep working forever – ipad, ipod, phone, car, computer . . don’t make me learn anything new! Yep, I’ve turned into my grandma!

I can’t believe he upgraded to Windows 10. Everyone is saying Do Not Upgrade, even computer techs. Lots of older programs will not work in Windows 10. I won’t upgrade because of all the problems I hear other people are having. Good thing my husband doesn’t use my computer. I would be throwing a fit. I hope all your programs work!

Vince would never upgrade without being sure all the programs we use works with the new system. I told him so long as my PhotoShop, PaintShop, and EQ worked, I was fine. He’s upgraded all his computers and hasn’t had a problem with anything not working yet. No, I’m not going to throw a fit. Worst that can happens is we buy new programs and life goes on. There are some things I get really upset about but a computer is not one of them.

I’m with you! Stop ‘updating’ my electonics….I can’t keep up! Now, if I could get an ‘update’ on my body…that would really excite me!

I share your pain. Can’t believe the trouble I had this morning trying to post this tutorial. GRRRR!

The problem with upgrading your old computer is that you may find that some of the old programs you WANT to run don’t work any more! That’s happened to me twice now, and I keep one computer on the older OS just for that reason. My motto in life is if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! I don’t know if you can get the old OS you had on there back on it, but sometimes the older ones are available for a while.

Thank you! I feel closer everyday to becoming like my mother and grandmother. Change should be a nasty four letter word if you could make it work. It is not something I like doing. My thoughts are usually….”great here is something else I need to learn so if it quits working I know how to fix it.” It all makes me grouchy because it cuts into my “play time”.

We were ‘forced’ to upgrade to Windows10 because of a problem we had with Windows7. I hate 10! It’s just awful!

I agree. Why can’t what works just be left alone? I hate it too when websites change the way they work just from one day to the next. And it totally throws the patrons at the library when their email or something looks different. Then I’m supposed to figure it out on the fly for them. 🙂 …for sites I never use to begin with.
