I’m not yet ready to declare that my sewing mojo is back but I woke up this morning wanting to be in the sewing room.
It’s been so long since I’ve been in here, I sat and stared at EQ, wondering how on earth to get back to the file I’d been working on. But, first I had to overcome a major obstacle. It’s a good thing Vince is at work because I was NOT happy with him when I realized that my computer had been upgraded to Windows 10. Oh, man . . I am too old for this. I don’t know why this old desktop couldn’t have been left alone but no .. not with Mr. Upgrade EVERY Computer In The House! Finally figured out how to get around a bit only to find that neither my email or facebook passwords were saved and I don’t have a clue what they are and to reset them, I have to get a text, which doesn’t happen in the sewing room. Maybe I’ll get more done without email and FB to distract me. Or, maybe I’ll walk back to the house and get the texts and reset the passwords.
Finally made enough progress with EQ to get back to my file but I needed to print more paper pieces. That’s when I learned that the default printer was the Dymo label maker so I have 500 labels (not really .. but about 15) printed with pieces of EQ blocks on them. Then I discovered that the printer in the sewing room wasn’t even installed on this computer. That is so far above my knowledge level but I somehow managed to get it done, papers printed and then I sat back and was thinking how blessed I am to be able to sit in my sewing room and sew, or sit in the living room and knit, spin, rug hook. Yes, my life is close to perfect . . til I looked up and saw this on the wall right in front of me.
Yes, my sweet boy in the picture made me smile but the spider made me say a bad word!
Honestly, it’s been over 2 hours that I’ve been in the sewing room messing with “stuff” and haven’t made the first stitch but the day is young and I’m not a quitter! 🙂 One more Dr. Pepper and I should be good to go!
This is where I started today . . and I’ll share an “after” picture if I manage to get anything done.

So glad to hear that you’re getting back to sewing! I hope you get your mojo back. Bummer about the spider and the computer issues. Did you ever get the book I sent you?

So glad to see you are back in the sewing room again! Yes, Vince is in trouble. It’s bad enough what I’m capable of doing to my own computer without any help from Bill. In fact I did just that this week to my iMac desktop when I decided to download Apples newest operating system, El Capitan. (my own fault, not his) What a nightmare that turned out to be. Thankfully I found a way to restore Lion, the previous operating system. Maybe you can restore whatever version you had back to your computer too. I have a newer Windows laptop in my sewing room running Windows 8.1. I get around OK on that version, (took me awhile) so I’m not even going to get Windows 10, even if it is free. I’ve heard it can make some sewing related programs obsolete, and you have to upgrade them along with Windows 10.

It needs to be updated so I’ll live with it. EQ works with Windows 10 and that’s about all that matters on this old desktop. If I didn’t upgrade it, every single issue I have . . from being out of paper in the printer to real issues . . Vince would say “You wouldn’t let me update it so I don’t know what to tell you” so I play along and say “Yes, darling!” (Hope you don’t believe that!! 🙂

I have not upgraded to Window 10 because I was worried about what it would do to my programs like EQ7 and 4D. Glad you are getting in some sewing time. I struggle too. Have a great day!

LOL, Paul and I had a hands-off policy on each other’s computers, unless one of us asked the other for assistance. Once I went Apple, he didn’t help much at all. And once he went Unix, I didn’t help, either, but we each took a different path to get away from Windows!

If Windows 10 has been installed for less than 30 days you can go back to the previous operating system. I let my laptop upgrade to 10 and now it boots up slower, shuts down slower and pretty much killed battery life. Used to get 4 to 4 1/2 hours unplugged, now I’m lucky to get an hour and a half. Sucks. At the library I absolutely can’t let the Windows 7 machines upgrade. Our automation system won’t run on anything newer than 7. In Windows 8 Microsoft changed things so you can’t install a program on one computer and then map a network drive to it from another computer…and our system needs that.
