Call me fickle! We so rarely eat out and sometimes, I think . . I wish we liked eating out. And as soon as I eat out, I know why I’d rather eat at home.
Last week, Vince was hardly home for lunches or dinners and I seemed to have errands to run almost every day so I was grabbing lunch here or dinner there. After about two days, I thought . . it’s not fun cooking for one and I understand why people don’t do it but I want homemade food!
A few days before, I had roasted a chicken and had leftover chicken so I sauteed some onions, peppers, added some tomatoes, a bit of wine, the chicken . . found a partial bag of storebought pasta in the pantry and I had a delicious lunch . . all homemade.
Every day I’m thankful that I love to cook. If you don’t like to cook, I’m sure eating out is much easier but for me, there’s hardly anywhere, and definitely nowhere in our town, that I’d rather eat than at my own home.

I totally agree with you! We seldom eat out, not only is it super expensive, I can usually prepare something better! I hope someday my boys realize this. 🙂

I agree with Jen – not only is it better, it’s cheaper!

I’m not big on cooking for one, but it is still cheaper than eating out. Plus if I make a big pot of something, I can freeze leftovers for taking to work for lunch.

I’m with you! We also live in a small town with mostly Mexican restaurants but even when we go to the “big city” I almost always think our dinners at home are much better than eating in restaurants. I, too, love to cook and am always trying out new recipes – I get bored eating the same old things over and over. My latest adventure is that I dehydrated some slaw mix; will see how it turns out when I go to rehydrate it in some water.

I’d “love” to cook more if I had a kitchen conducive to my style of cooking! Remodel still on the back burner :(. I’m doing my best, and have a pot of veggie-laden chili on the stove. That’s for tomorrow. Tonight will be ham I think. I’m not much of a fan of eating out any more either, and take-out has become too much of the same and boring, but it’s a Friday night tradition so I don’t have to cook – my one night off.

I wish I felt like stopping long enough to try to make something healthy as I know I just eat CRAP!! I’d probably feel better if I ate better. But like you said, it is NO fun to cook for one and trying to think of stuff to cook is just more than I want to do. So I continue to drive thru and pick up more junk or have a frozen dinner just because it’s easy. (Would probably cost a lot less, too, if I’d make stuff).

I am not a germaphobe but do you really know how clean that kitchen is that the meal you just ordered, and how clean are the utensils preparing it. Do you know how clean that cook is ?
At least when I cook at home, I know my kitchen is clean and I was my hands continually. I don’t touch my hair or the dog when cooking.
Besides all the salt that is put on a item, I can control that. My brother in law is a chef and first thing he does is to take and clean a kitchen when he takes over the kitchen. Make sure all the procedures are followed that are set forth
