While Vince was getting kitty litter at Walmart, he spotted a bed he thought Rita would like. She loves curling up in a little ball and sleeping all snug. She has a little basket type bed that feels kinda like lamb’s wool but it isn’t . . by our bed that she sleeps in at night so Vince thought she’d like this little basket type bed for the sofa.
I’d say . .s he likes it!
And, she would like it a whole lot more if the crazy woman with the camera would leave her alone and let her sleep.
Look at her cute little paw up on the side of the bed . . and her cute little nose . . and her cute little mouth! She’s such a sweet girl.
She’s down for the count now. If I get up from my chair, it will wake her so I guess I’ll just have to sit and knit all day! 🙂
I’ve pretty much always had dachshunds and I asked Vince the other day . . Has Rita ever growled at you? No! In a year of being here, she’s never once growled at me. I’ve moved her food bowl with food in it. I’ve grabbed things she was just fixing to eat. I’ve poked pills down her throat. I’ve moved her when she was tired. I’ve walked close to her when she was chewing on a bone. Old Speck . . those are all things that when done to him involve the risk of losing a finger or two!
We would never have chosen a chihuahua but we’re so happy she chose us.

Rita is such a sweet girl. A Chihuahua will love and protect you not matter what till the last breath. Love Chihuahuas.

She is so cute… and a very smart dog to pick you two.

Either one of my Grandma’s chihuahuas would have taken your arm off if you got near them. One woman dogs they were and nobody was getting close to Grandma. I really don’t have much use for the breed…as cute as Rita is sleeping there in her new bed all wrapped up in a cozy blanket.

awww, nothing cuter than a sweet, sleeping pup!

Chuckled when I saw you poke pills down Rita’s throat. Some people use peanut butter–never worked for me. We always use cheese. I mold the cheese in my hand (usually use colby which softens nicely) and then roll the pill inside. First, I give the dog a tidbit of cheese so she knows what I am going to give her, so when the cheese filled with the pill arrives she is all set. Our dogs have all loved cheese so for them it is a treat. Glad Rita loves her new bed. She is a lucky dog to have found your home!

I wouldn’t have chosen a chihuahua either – but wouldn’t turn one away if it showed up on my doorstep either. We have a St.Bernard, the opposite of a chihuahua! I have only met ONE chihuahua that I have liked though – two of my brothers wives have chihuahuas and they are both awful dogs. Mean and nippy and very unsocial. My Saint is friendly to everybody – and the chihuahuas try to attack her even though she has not one mean bone in her body. BUT, my hubby’s brother has a teeeny tiny chihuahua (she is 3#) and she is a DOLL. A little skittish, but not too bad. And, not a mean bone in her body. So, I really do think it varies widely within the breed. 🙂 Rita is one lucky doggy to have found you guys!

Awe, she is so adorable and so lucky that she was guided to you. I, like you, have always had and currently do have a mini weiner. My aunt just adopted a chihuahua from the shelter and she is just so sweet and adorable too.
I will be adopting whatever finds me next too 🙂
