They’re basically sugar and peanuts .. with a little red dye thrown in because they’re known as “Pink” Peanut Patties!
Can you buy these where you live? I think they’re more of a southern “thang” . . maybe just Louisiana and Texas. I can say with certainty that they are hard, if not impossible, to find in Kentucky and Missouri. When I would go to Louisiana from Kentucky and Missouri, I knew exactly where the first stops were that had these. In Texas, it was a little gas station in Paris, Texas. I forgot where they were when I was headed to Louisiana from Kentucky.
There’s no way I can stretch my imagination to find anything healthy in these things but they’re so good and I’ve done a great job of limiting how many of them I buy. When we rented at the lake . . 4 years ago . . the little grocery store just outside the entrance to our subdivision had them.
The new United store has them right in plain sight and today was the first time I succumbed to their sweet little calls “take me home!”.
Once again, United amazes me with their pricing. The label clearly says “5” and if you count . . there are 6 in the bag. And, if you see . . it also says “net wt. 10 oz.” Really?
I knew it felt like more than 10 oz. so I weighed them . . with only 5 in the bag. I didn’t tare for the bag but I know that bag does not weigh 3 oz. Funny!
I’m glad to see that I need to eat the 5 remaining patties before October 16 . . that means I can have one every other day and it will work out just about right.
Bad Judy! 🙂

I can tell you the redeeming value of the pink peanut patties! When I had surgery for stomach cancer, one of the first things they told me to eat was peanut butter for the protein content! Not much, but it is there and was easy to eat with saltine crackers. Unfortunately for me, I can’t have the pink peanut patties, way too much sugar for me now. So every time you eat one, just think of all that protein your getting!

I can say that I have never seen them in New York. Are they like peanut brittle with a little food coloring?

I’ve been making these for my husband since we married in 1970. He worked at a pharmacy in Abilene while we were in college and the pharmacist’s wife would send them. She gave me the recipe and the rest is history. Now I make them to take to family reunions as well. My husband just made a batch a few weeks ago. Yes, he eats them all. Love them but too much sugar.

Oh, yeah, have to eat them before they go bad, for sure. =) I’ve seen them around here and in Arizona, but they were packed by the one. I’ve never succumbed to eating one. I really don’t need another bad sugar habit!

Oh those are so yummy !!! I used to eat them as a kid (and yepers I think they are a southern thing) as my Dad used to bring them home from his trips to Mississippi/Alabama to visit his family.

Oh the memories these bring back. And no they aren’t like peanut briddle at all. They aren’t crunchie but softer to what I remember. Would love to have the recipe to make because darling hubby loves them. I don’t see them much in big box stores only in little old timey store now days. Once I became a diabetic I swore off sugar stuff so it has been a long time in tasting them but I do remember they were great. Again thanks for the memory jog.

From the sounds of these, it is a good thang they are not in Florida. I find peanuts irresistible in any form. My memory of some 75 years ago is buying chocolate covered peanuts at the 5 and 10 cent store…. 1/4 lb at a time! I still like to munch on them now … but am much more controlled.

Yes, my dad used to bring those home sometimes. We were probably really wild after eating those. I haven’t seen any recently but can’t say I have looked for them either.

We get them at Sam’s (in Texas, LOL). Goodarts Peanut Patties – 24/box. One of our grandsons asks every time we go to visit if we’re bringing some :-).

Judy, I remember you finding these for me a few years ago because of the name being Leslie’s peanut paddies. I gave them as Christmas treats to our Quilting Group during our Christmas party. I also remember they were very, very sweet!! Almost too sweet for me. I love anything with peanuts in it though, so I toughed it out and ate one. lol
