Yesterday on Facebook, I saw that Eat, Sleep, Knit had mentioned a vest pattern that was great as a transitional piece . . which you might need something to keep you warm but not a full jacket or . . if you live in central Texas, something to wear on the coldest of day! 🙂
The pattern is Omena and I kept thinking about it all afternoon.
It just looks so wearable. Late night before last, Nicole and I were chatting online and I said “Hey! Look at this!” She loved it so we started searching our favorite shops for yarn and ended up deciding on this:
It’s hard for me to choose three shades of the same color when shopping online. I would love to have made it in blues or even browns but choosing the grays was easy with the Cascade Eco Wool so we each got yarn to make one of these.
Nicole is zipping through her Loopy Academy projects. She’s already finished her pillow and working on her hat. Me . . I’ve been canning and doing other stuff .. not enough knitting time so I need to buckle down and get busy with my knitting. Can’t have her getting ahead of me, can I?
Yes .. I do need to get busy knitting . . especially since my spinning classes start this Saturday.

It looks like a circle with the center out so can put arms. Not sure how warm would be but it looks easy enough to make. Love the colors too. Could make in rainbow colors for your granddaughter.Bet she would love it.

It’s pretty in grey — I like the stacked look! 🙂

I made a similar sweater/vest a few years ago. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/yvonne
It is perfect for when you just want a bit of warmth, but not a full sweater. The only thing about it is the seemingly endless rows of garter stitch – mindless knitting.

I love that! Not sure my hands could take that much garter stitch knitting with sport weight yarn though but I added it to my favorites. Thanks for the link!
