There are several recipes that we’ve discovered recently that use teriyaki sauce:
- Teriyaki Chicken Wings (pressure cooker)
- Chicken Teriyaki with Broccoli
- Tuna Marinated in Teriyaki
- Teriyaki Scallops/Cole Slaw
All of these recipes are quick, yummy and use a good bit of teriyaki sauce. The other day I had teriyaki sauce on my grocery list and I looked at the price and thought . . I’ll bet I could make this at home for less.
Yesterday I was planning to make the Teriyaki Scallops and was able to test my recipe and it was delicious and cost way less than buying the already prepared sauce.
There are numerous recipes on the internet so I found one or two that looked like what we’d like, and then added the ingredients to make it what we would like (a bit sweeter and spicier). This recipe makes 2 quarts plus what I had already poured over the scallops in the front pint jar.
Costwise, it helps a lot if you buy soy sauce in bigger bottles.

Looks good! I wonder how long it will store.

A couple of the recipes I saw said “indefinitely” but I’d be comfortable keeping it a month or so in the fridge. If you don’t think you would use it in that amount of time, the recipe can easily be cut in half.
