Thanks to those who have asked about Mom. She had surgery in Houston for a large cerebral aneurysm in May and did quite well with the surgery. She ended up spending one night in ICU and then going home the next day. She had a few setbacks and ended up in the ER in Lake Charles and having to make one trip back to Houston where they kept her 1 or 2 nights.
She is really struggling with headaches. The doctor who did the surgery told her they would be bad and would last for a while but I don’t think she anticipated how bad they were going to be. Yesterday we talked about them and she still has them almost every day I think but they’re not as severe and she may be starting to skip a day of having them.
Another surgery will take place in November to remove a second aneurysm but it’s much smaller than the first one and the doctor has given her hope that the headaches will not be quite so severe or last as long.
Mom has always been very active and since the surgery, she’s having some vision issues, enough so that she isn’t sewing/quilting, reading, spending much time on the computer and definitely not working in her yard so besides the physical pain, the vision impairment has been a big issue for her. I think she’s planning to wait til after she recovers a bit from the second surgery and see an eye doctor. For now, the vision issues seems to be changing so she doesn’t feel like seeing an eye doctor now would help her much.
This is one of those times when I have to hope she doesn’t read the blog .. Mom is 81. The surgery, the trips back and forth from Lake Charles, LA to Houston . . it’s all been hard on Mom and Dad. My sister lives a couple of hours from them but also has a place just a few miles from them so she’s been a tremendous help through all this.
Hopefully, Mom will have the second surgery and then get her vision issues corrected enough that she can go back to doing the things she enjoys doing.

Thank you for the update. I’m glad things seem to be getting a little better for your mom, even if it’s slow. In a few months, I hope she’ll be back to her normal activities, and this will be a bad memory.
