Speck is fine . . don’t let the picture scare you. He turned 15 in June and he still seems to be doing good. During the day, I often sit in the sewing room and knit but in the evenings, I’m in the house. If I’m sitting in my chair, Speck is sitting with me. He would always sleep on the side of me and sometimes, he would stretch out towards the foot part of the recliner. The other night, he rolled over and fell off the chair. I was afraid he had injured himself . . old dachshund with a fragile back and ad front legs . . but he got up and was fine.
Now, I kinda stretch my legs out and keep him in between my legs so I can keep him from falling off the chair.
He’s definitely an old dog now and he sleeps a lot, can’t hear and can’t see very well. We’re lucky to still have him and have his health as good as it is.

He looks so peaceful and cozy. We had one for 19 years and I still miss her terribly. You can tell Speck has been cared for very well.

He looks very content to me. And now you both know he won’t be falling, so that’s a great thing, too!

I just love Speck’s coloring. And he’s been one lucky boy to live with you guys! Now if only that ole Rita hadn’t come along! HAHA

Chloe, my Smelly Basset, is getting old too. Her dark brown ears are grey and she is grouchy! imagine a grouchy basset hound! More and more she decides she doesn’t want to go walk with the Bad Basset Boyz when we walk at night.
I hate when they get old.

Doxies are the best !! As I type this, my Chip is sleeping next to me in my recliner too. He also will work his way down to the foot when I have the end up. I also keep him between my legs most times to make sure he doesn’t fall off. Must be a doxie mom thing LOL
Had a mini long hair named Heidi. She was with me from about 7 weeks old till her rip old age of 15. It’s been 4 years and still miss her so much.
Chip is a great little guy. Rescued him 3-1/2 years ago and I can’t imagine my life without him.
Enjoy your little senior guy!! Seniors are just plain precious pups 🙂
