One of my crabapple trees is producing what I think might be real apples.
They’re about the size of an apple. We don’t seem to have a record of what kind of crabapple this tree is supposed to be but we had planted two of them. One died and this one . . I just don’t think it’s a crabapple but I could be wrong.
Most any crabapple I’ve ever seen has been roundish and about the size of a big marble.
Once the yellow things get riper, I’ll taste one . . that will tell me. Crabapples are as sour as it gets. I’ll let you know what I find out.

Looks like a decent little crop there on whatever kind of apple that is. What were you planning for the crabapples?

Judy, I agree with you. Growing up we had 2 crabapple trees in our backyard. My grandmother used to make crabapple jam and those little large marble-sized apples were very sour. Your yellow apples don’t look like the crabapples I knew as a kid. How big are these apples?

Going by the picture, they look like Golden Delicious apples, which are not crab apples. They look lovely!

Golden delicious or Anna apples, but not crab apples.

Crab apples on steroids? Did you fertilize that tree too well? 🙂

Couldn’t it have come back below the graft? Althou I would think the rootstock would be a crabapple. Maybe it was mislabeled.
