Vince was off today and you can guess where we ended up bright and early this morning . . Walmart and Home Depot. I did need a couple of things from Walmart and some fertilizer for my figs so I didn’t complain about going. While at Walmart, Mr. Bargain Shopper found these.
It’s the neatest tea infuser! You can buy them at Amazon for about $20, and now that I know how great they are, I would have paid that much, but we got them for . .
If we had been there yesterday, the clearance merchandise was 1/2 off so we would have paid $2.50!
It has a little tea infuser/strainer in the lid that clicks down into the liquid. In the photo below, I have the lid upside down so you can see it better. You can also see a better photo on the Aladdin website.
Again, the photo is upside down but the little strainer clicks back into the cap once the infusing is done. I removed the tea bag once I was done with the steeping. You can also use loose tea in it.
It’s dishwasher safe, the bottom can go into the microwave . . though I will probably do neither.
I made myself some tea this afternoon and it worked great. It will be especially nice for taking my cup of tea to the sewing room and not having to share it with Boots, or sitting out on the porch and not having to fish flies and wasps out of my tea!

Is it always Thur. that the clearance stuff is an additional 1/2 off? Is all clearance stuff together or scattered around in whatever dept. it’s from? I need to remember this stuff and be more like Vince!! HAHA

I’ve had that same one for a couple of years now – I definitely would not put it in dishwasher, regardless of what it says. Easy to clean if you do it right away!

I use my 6 oz french press coffee pot for my loose tea as well as coffee. It is glass so it doesn’t hold the flavor of either.
I need to check to see if our Walmart has clearances discounts like that……hmmm I scored some cheap stuff at Target today though. $4 pillows for outside furniture and $1 for some seeds that are in some mesh that you roll out to make a flower hedge. And 50 cent large boxes of baking soda. we use a ton of baking soda so I scoffed up 4 boxes.

I finally learned how to get tea stains out of plastic type things including tupperware. Pick up some of the cheapest generic powder dishwasher soap. Sprinkle some in the bottom of the empty container (maybe 2-3 tablespoons), add water (I usually add hot water…1-2 cups) then stir with a part like a lid to dissolve the powder, then fill container with water to cover the stain. Let soak until stains are gone. If in a hurry, I use more powder soap, then soak maybe 10 minutes. Sometimes 30 minutes does the trick, often I just put it to soak and forget it until the next time I do dishes or in the morning. Clean as a whistle and No scrubbing!!

I’ve been using Mason jars for a couple months now. They are not elegant, but they are easy to clean, and I can pour the tea into a travel cup if I’m going out. 🙂
