We both need to lose quite a bit of weight and we’ve been successful with Weight Watchers before so we started that again yesterday. If I have to be on a weight loss program, Weight Watchers is one I feel good about. It encourages fruits and veggies and the point system is easy to track. Their recipes are usually one pot type dishes and are quick to make.
I will share photos of our meals but I won’t share recipes since the ones I’m using from the WW website require a membership to view them. Last night I forgot to take a picture (guess I was hungry!) but we had Cashew Chicken and Spicy Peanut Butter slaw and both were delicious. For lunch, we had beef tacos and they were good, and filling.
The problem for me is .. no Dr. Pepper. Last night I was ready for bed at 9:00. Vince said “Are you sick?” and I said . . no . . I haven’t had any caffeine today. So far I haven’t had a headache but I think that usually comes on Day 3. Dr. Peppers count as 4 points so if I have to have one to get rid of a headache, I’ll do it and move on!
For lunch today, we’re having leftover tacos. I’ll just heat up the meat and warm fresh corn tortillas. I guess tonight is Greek night. I just realized I have Roasted Greek Style Chicken with Veggies, and some kind of salad.
Except for no Dr. Pepper, it’s fairly easy . . as long as there’s no Blue Bell ice cream available.

I think I will go along with you and give WW another go. I agree, it is a meal plan that doesn’t seem restricted at all. And there is plenty of variety and quantity.
I am doing the diet soda withdrawal too. I have not had a diet soda since 6/2. The last 2 days finally saw the cravings go away. Mind you I was limiting myself to 5 cans a week as it was. Luckily it is iced tea season. I also enjoy juice and Pelligrino especially in the summer.

I understand the problems with trying to lose weight. Been fighting the battle of the bulge since before my thyroid went nuts. Now it’s worse. I attend TOPS (take off pounds sensibly) meetings each week. We use the exchange system, and the meetings are more for moral support than anything else. Now if I would just do what I’m supposed to do, it would work much better.

Judy and Cathy, you can have diet soda on WW. My husband will drink diet Dr. Pepper (the only diet soda he will drink) and, I believe, there are no WW point plus values to the diet soda. You just have to remember that you should only drink about 1 can a day. WW is a great program. I have been on it several times!!!! The last time – 4 years ago – I lost 60 lbs and I’ve managed to keep all but 10 lbs off. I’m now working to lose those 10 lbs. Good luck and I know you can do it!

I just want to be off the soda habit. If I’m going to learn to drink something new . . why not make it water. We’ll see how I do with that.

I look forward to following your WW journey. I am a member and weigh in on Friday. I haven’t been successful but that is my fault. My down fall is wine. My favorite evening pastime is my wine and knitting. My second downfall is that my Big Guy likes to eat out!

Weight Watchers is my go-to as well! It may be the caffeine withdrawal causing your headache – try a strong cup of tea or coffee first. I find that helps me a lot!

We’re Carb Counting, the pre-diabetic program. Both of us are borderline on blood sugar readings. It’s a big adjustment having to plan ahead…having enough of the good stuff on hand so we won’t just grab what’s handy. I’m down to about 3-4 diet soft drinks a week. We’re on day 20.
We’re looking forward to Blue Bell coming back. We can have it, but not much cause it costs so many ‘points’.
Good luck!

Best of luck with your WW journey. I’m a “fallen lifetime” member and started again last October. Monday is my weigh-in day and I celebrated 50 lbs. gone. This time around I’m going to continue to go to weekly meetings after I get to where I’d like to be. It’s a great program. Yay fruits and vegetables!

Hurray for you on your WW journey!

What happened to making and drinking kombucha? And wouldn’t that be less points than a soda? I started making my own and kind of crave it when I don’t have one. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing. I think going public keeps us honest, maybe.
