Today was the day I was supposed to call the pharmacist to discuss my bioidentical hormones. I called on the cell phone and after a few minutes, he said “you’re breaking up really badly” so I told him I would call him back on another phone. I called back on the Magic Jack, which goes through the internet and it’s not Magic Jack’s fault . . it’s the fault of this sad internet service. The pharmacist said “Oh, that’s better. I can hear every other word now!” I’m thinking . . we’re not going to make decisions on my meds based on you hearing every other word of what I’m telling you so I told him I would come by and see him the next time I’m in town.
There are some folks a mile or so down the road and they have a booster on a tall tower and my understanding, which may be totally wrong . . is that there’s a company in town that gets their internet from a company in Brady, about an hour southwest of us. The Brady company needed to boost their signal so they put a “whatever” on the neighbor’s tower and they will sell us internet so they’re coming out Friday to see what they can install here.
Maybe a phone conversation is in my future . . where I’m not standing out in the pasture and hearing “you’re breaking up!”.
Wish us luck!

I DO wish you luck, Judy! This is just terrible – we were so lucky to have a Verizon tower in Lemmon, SD, and Hughes internet we knew how to set up ourselves. While there are days I’d like to trash the computer, we really do need phone service to connect to the world because emergencies happen.

Judy, we have a friend here in Palm Springs who is making more money than he did teaching, his business now is in an industrial area and he has a number of cell towers installed there. Don’t know if they cost him $$$ to install, but he is making more $$4 than he ever did. We switched from AT7T (they were charging us for stuff we never signed up for and our communication at Lake Tahoe in the summer was also about nill. Switched to Verizon. No problem here at home and has worked at the lake in the summer. I used to hike up to the highway, trying to get a signal. Succeeded once in awhile, but not for long. A tough time as my mother was failing and I wanted to talk with her 2-3 times a day. You have property – can you install a cell tower there so you will always jave a connection. If not, a landline that will work unless the electricity goes out. We had that happen during a terrible storm here in Palm Springs. The police knocked at the door around midnight. Our phones did not work. I found out that my father had died, drove 1 mile down the hill to the police dept and was able to call my brother. Thank God for the police dept, still getting phone reception. They were wonderful to me. It as a terrible storm, for days, and we were without phones or At-T cell service. I was able to go to the airport and get a flight up to San Francisco, which I did. Scary, what weather can do to you.
