Here’s a funny story! We were at the AT&T store and we had the best guy helping us. He was young but said he has a wife so he’s probably older than I thought he was. Vince, in typical Vince fashion, was complaining about everything I wanted to buy. First, he said he wasn’t buying the Otter case there. He was going to order it online. Then he said he wasn’t buying a car charger. He would order it online. I figured by the time he found an Otter box for the new S6 and got it here, I’d have already dropped the darned phone and broke it so what’s the problem with paying a few extra $$ to get it now? It never fails, my phone battery is low when we decide to go somewhere and without a car charger, I’m just lost. The AT&T guy told Vince the Otter box was $50 and Vince squawked and moaned but agreed so when I went to pick one out, the pink one wasn’t a very pretty shade of pink, the purple one wasn’t pretty. I didn’t want white, I didn’t want black and then I saw pink camo but it was $60. They AT&T guy said “He’s not going to be happy about it costing $10 more.” I said “That’s ok! I’ll fix spaghetti and meatballs tonight and he’ll be happy!”
We were sitting there waiting for all the paper work to get done and Vince looked at me and said “What’s for dinner?” The AT&T guy said “Spaghetti and meatballs!” Vince looked at the guy and looked at me and I said “yep, spaghetti & meatballs!” Vince was wondering how on earth that guy knew what we were having for dinner.
Vince ended up deciding he needed the S6 too, even though he has the one model previous to the iPhone 6 so now we each have phones we don’t know how to use.
I also talked him into getting a car charger. While he was paying, I was looking at Fitbits. I’ve been thinking of getting one. One of the other salesmen walked out and said “Look at this!” They had the Jawbone UP 24 on a serious closeout price because it’s discontinued. It will do what I need it to do for now so Vince and I each got one. The things you never knew you needed til you go to the AT&T store! 🙂

Funny Judy – you know how to sway people!

I’ll bet that salesman had a good story to tell to his wife over supper too! LOL
What the heck is a jawbone up 24? And a fitbit? Why, yes. Yes, I do live under a rock although I crawled out this week to cook for the crew.

GOOD MOVE! getting the dinner choice out in the finaly $$ is spent. I have the fitbit, and have likes and dislikes with it. But it works and I’m amazed at how many steps I get, and how few I get sometimes too.

I just got a knockoff Fitbit ($40 from Aldi) this week and am trying it out. So far I think I like it, but it counted almost 200 steps while I was getting dressed this morning. Yes I put it on as soon as I got out of the shower. Do all these type devices count arm motion as steps?

Judy, great story! smiling. The best part of the iPhone 6, at least for me is the Camera! I think I mentioned it before—the camera is awesome. Size wise, I might as well have went with the iPhone 6 plus because I still find the 6 in my front pants pocket bothersome, especially when bending or crouching down. I’m always taking it out, and setting it somewhere, and then can’t find it. With the Otter case, it’s probably not going to fit in most front pant pockets anyway. Enjoy your new phone!

The phone on the Galaxy S6 is quite a bit better (so they say) than on the iPhone and that was a selling feature for me. Both my iPhone 4S and the Galaxy S6 will fit in my pocket with the Otter case. It’s obvious that it’s there but it fits in most jeans pockets.
Angie says
So Judy, I’m confused. Did you buy an iPhone 6 or a GalaxyS6. I must have misread your story about shopping for the phones—sometimes I wonder if I need new glasses! anyway, it depends on my jeans, or how fat I am on a certain day how my iPhone6 and I get along! Most days it is annoying in my pocket
Angie says
I am such a dunce sometime! S6 does not = i6

Amusing, as all your adventures shopping with Vince can be. I’m glad you have something that makes you happy, and I guess Vince didn’t want to be left behind. =) This is why I call Verizon and look online and stay out of the store! Last time, I walked out with an Ellipsis tablet, which didn’t cost that much, and was no increase on my bill, since we juggled something, but I could never get into using it, so I gave it to my son last week. He’s happy. =)

I never buy add ons at the at and t store. I got my cover for 1.75 from ebay, car charges are 3.75, buying for two here as well, also get hearing aide batteries cheaper than from hearing aide store. I would have blown a gasket at their prices.
JudyL says
There’s nothing wrong with buying that way but the warranty is something I wanted and the ones not sold from an authorized store often don’t carry the same warranty. We have a couple of car chargers that we bought for $3.99 and my iPhone got hot when using them. For plenty of things, I don’t mind buying off brands or less expensive items but when the phone costs $650, I’m pretty careful what goes on it and into it.

I hope you’ll really like the phone, Judy. I’ve had a love/hate relationship with my S5. I learned how to use it and was really into it until they did a big android update one night (updates are not optional). The next morning, I didn’t know how to use my phone again! Anyway, subsequent updates have not been that drastic, and I’ve been very happy with it since. I particularly like being able to find anything I need in a new location, when I’m not familiar with the area, I love the camera, which takes great photos despite my tremor, and messaging is really easy on my S5. It can do so much more than the things for which I use it, but I’ll get there someday!
JudyL says
Like you, Linda, I’ll muddle through. I’ll learn what I have to learn and then learn a few new things now and then. I’ll never use it to its fullest potential but I’m liking it so far. I love that I can put the folks at the top that I send texts to most often so I don’t have to go through contacts or older texts to get to them. Of course, those folks may not be happy that it’s so easy for me to send them a text! 🙂
I love Google’s photo editing options! So easy to do and the original is always saved! May be my fav feature so far.

We’ll have to see what he gets here in the near future, we both have the same phone 2 different carriers (grandkids on one carrier and his work on another ), we have the galaxy s3 and so far its been a good phone, but hubs decided he needs a new phone …
