All day I’ve been thinking . . I need to get a blog post done and I just haven’t stopped long enough.

My mom has been admitted to a hospital in Houston with a life threatening condition so I’m asking for your prayers for her and for my dad. They were hoping to be sent to Shreveport, LA, since they are more familiar with the medical facilities there and dad is more comfortable driving in Houston but it wasn’t to be and they were sent to Houston. My sister is with them now. My aunt and uncle (mom’s brother and his wife) are waiting for news and they will go to Houston as soon as they get the word.

And then . . there’s Judy! Can’t drive across bridges and overpasses; has to completely bypass Houston to get to Lake Charles so there’s no way I can drive in Houston. There are the animals . . not that they’re more important than family but I’m not sure Speck could handle a few days in the vet and after leaving Rita at the vet for a few hours yesterday, I’m not sure she would do well being left either. And the chickens . . we’re just like my grandparents . . they could never leave home because they had chickens!

As usual, I’m the luckiest person I know. My friend here happens to have a wonderful home in Katy and she’s here for a week or so. She has offered to drive with me to Houston, get me to the hospital, then we’ll spend a night or two at her house and then drive back here. So, I’m waiting to hear what happens with mom and if I need to go, my friend and I will leave in the morning and . . we’ll take it from there and see how things go.

  2. Oh goodness! Sending prayers for your folks as well as safe travels for you. I know how hard it is to get away and I know how hard it is to be away from family when something comes up. It’s be nice if we could be in 2 places at once. Thinking of you.

  3. I m so sorry bout your mom. I just signed the papers to put my mother into Hospice for the second time. I understand what you are going through. It is never easy.

  37. I understand driving in Houston being a nightmare – I do it 5 days a week… to get here to my desk, in the Texas Medical Center… I am at Hermann.   62. Judy, we have been out of town to see the grandkids and do Grandparents Day at Kaitlin’s school. So sorry to hear this news, but have heard nothing but great things as far as medical help in the area.
