We peeked in on the bluebird nest in the orchard and either the eggs are fixing to hatch or they’ve just hatched because the mama was not moving off them . . even with us opening the door to the box and taking a picture.
They’re so beautiful . . I hope we have a whole bunch of babies that hatch and survive.

You do have so many different winderful things especially from nature to share from your ranch! Truly you are living the good life!! I do love your garden, canning & cooking sharing, also! We love to watch our 2 bluebird boxes with their broods every year. Sadly, yesterday my husband went out to check the SIX young ones as they should have been about ready to fledge. A 4′ copperhead was curled up in the box with a very full stomach. Just made me nauseated. And yes, we do have snake guards on both the poles as we have had something get them in the past. Mother Nature is cruel sometimes. Doubt they will build in this box again this season and we usually have 3-4 sets per year. Just makes me sick.

WE had this happen one time.W e finally added sheets of metal around the tree at the top and bottom around the box. We made it about 3 foot on both sides. Solved the snake problem . And yes just empty the nest and they will rebuild as fast as can be. Maybe even the same day. It is their mission to have a brood.
Judy Laquidara says
Oh, that’s so sad! Those darned snakes!

How cool is that? Bluebirds are beautiful! Occasionally we see one here in PA, but not very often at our home. Not too far away there are fields designated for bluebird houses. LOL! I don’t think they would let us near those boxes. So glad you got a pic. Don’t you feel like a proud momma once again?

Awwwwwwwww…precious

What is the saying build it and they will come. The same is true with bluebirds. Put you up a nest and wait and see. They told us they wouldn’t come into our back yard in the city and they did. Each year 3-4 times we had a brood. They like east facing houses up about 5 foot here in our part of Texas . No it isn’t open it was around play-set and trees. They never mined granddaughter or us around them. Just chased off everything else. They are so fun to watch up close. He takes really good care of her till they hatch then they share getting in and out feeding the youngsters. Keeps them both
very busy each day.
