I am so rarely sick! It doesn’t happen very often but .. it just happened!
Yesterday all day I kinda felt short of breath. If I breathed deep or talked a lot, I started coughing. It was a weird feeling but I didn’t feel bad. No sore throat or ear pressure . . so I figured we had just worked too hard over the weekend. Last night, I fixed dinner, sat down to eat . . told Vince I was cold and put on a sweatshirt. He said “You’re sick because it is NOT cold in here and you are NEVER cold!” I ate about half my dinner and told him I was taking some aspirins and went to bed. I slept for a couple of hours and a little after 8 p.m., I was awake and feeling good. I asked Vince last night for the name of his friend who is the PA at the walk in clinic here . . thinking I might need to go see him this morning.
But, this morning I woke up and felt fine. I worked in the garden, watered plants in the greenhouse, watered fruit trees . . til it started drizzling. At lunch, Vince asked if I was planning to go to the clinic and I told him no . . I felt great.
Tonight, we sat down to eat dinner . . asparagus and spinach from the garden, mashed potatoes and gravy, chicken fried pork cutlets. I ate about half my food, announced I was freezing, took aspirins and started to go back to bed. Vince said . . wait a minute . . let’s see if you have fever and I did . . 101.3 . . so we were off to the walk in clinic. Vince’s friend was working, I got fixed up and I should be better tomorrow. A shot, antibiotics, a B-12 shot, and cough medicine. The guy I saw here said he has seen this for several days. He said at first he was doing the swab test to see if it was the flu, even though no one had aches or sore throats and everyone tested came back negative.
It had been 2-1/2 years since I had been to the walk in clinic and that was when I got bit by a black widow spider. If you don’t count kidney stones, I’m really never sick . . and I hope it’s a very long time til it happens again.
What’s weird . . Chad, Nicole and Nicole’s mom all went to the walk in clinic near them yesterday because they apparently had the same thing I have. What’s also weird to me is that I felt so bad when I had fever but the minute the fever went away, I felt perfectly fine again.
I’m going to knit til I fall asleep and hope the chickens sleep late in the morning . . or hope the cough medicine works well enough that I don’t hear them crowing!

Hope your bug is SHORT LIVED!

I hope you are better soon Judy. It is no fun being sick when it is so nice outside and there’s things to be done.

I hope it’s a short lived bug. Hubby and I had this right after Christmas….he went to the doctor and got great drugs and was over with it in about 4 days. I went to the doctor and wasn’t sick enough to get good drugs….mine lasted for about 6 weeks, a couple of days feeling good than a couple of not feeling good…..

That is so weird. I had the same type of thing happen to me last week. I felt fine most of the time and would just start feeling terrible. However, I ended up with a runny nose. No sore thoart, no cough, nothing to indicate that I was sick. At first I wondered if I was developing an allergy. There has been a ton of pollen in the air. But this week I am better. Unfortunately, I went to work and infected my whole team. They have been calling in sick with a fever one after the other. I did not even think I ever ran a fever, but I did feel cold at times. Strange bugs out there this year.

Yep it is allergy time around Texas right now. THINGS ARE BLOOMING EVERYWHERE. It is kind of funny you can not be allergic one year/day then be allergic the next. Our bodies are weird that way. I’m glad you went to walk in clinic and got something before it really got must worst.Take care and rest a couple of days. Those chickens and garden will be there Sat.Just to then bare minimum.
But Judy you really do work to hard outside most days. Do like I do now work one day rest the next. That way you give your body time to heal it’s self on the rest day. Now knit away and drink plenty of fluids and breathe.xxxooo

I love those walk in clinics. So much easier than trying to see the DR. Hope your feeling better this morning. Raining here!

Hope you feel better (all day) soon! I’ve had a couple of sinus infections over the last two months–without fever though. I just felt yucky.

For me it allergys. Red cedar every spring. If I do not take care of it then it goes into my chest.

Hope you kick this bug soon! I saw some horrible pictures of kidney stones the other day and thought of you! They were all jaggedey and spikey and PAINFUL looking. If you can get through that, you can get through anything!

I was alarmed to read this Judy especially that the first episode you went to bed ignoring going to Dr/clinic that nt & the next am. You seem to never get sick so I do think you shouldn’t have ignored all those symptoms. I am so glad that you had Vince to take care of you when all symptoms reappeared. You just never can tell what your body is trying to tell you! Take care! Penny in So CA

You can get unalarmed! 🙂 If I went to the doctor every time I felt so tired I couldn’t take another step, I’d spend my whole spring and summer at the doctor’s office. I felt perfectly fine all morning til about 6 p.m. and when it happened the second day, I knew something wasn’t right and that’s when I went to the doctor. I’ve made it 60 years so I’m confident I’ll be able to take care of myself and make it a few more.

So did the PA say what it might be??? Did I miss that somehow? It sounds sorta like what I had about a week ago – 103 temp for 3 days and the only thing “wrong” was a headache and I was FREEZING. I’m like you, never cold, so that should’ve been my first clue something was wrong. LOL. Get well soon!

Hope you’re feeling better!!!

Oh, I hope you are back to feeling like yourself again soon. Glad you got some meds!
