Both of these eggs are from my chickens.
Even the lighter colored one on the right is brighter and richer than most store bought eggs. The one on the right is from chickens that mostly stay in a run. It’s way different from most caged chickens that lay eggs for commercial producers. They have about a 30′ x 50′ run and as soon as the fruit trees get their leaves to provide a little cover from hawks, vultures and things like that, we’ll start letting them out to run free and eat bugs.
The egg on the left is from one of the chickens that runs free all day, feasting on bugs and worms and anything she finds that looks yummy to her.
If you’re interested in why one is brighter, or the nutritional value of one vs. the other, this blog post has some great info.
As I think about the difference in eggs from chickens eating a nutritious diet, as they were intended to eat, compared to those chickens eating “fast food” — manufactured and sold in a bag, it makes me wonder about our own bodies . . what we put in and how we feel. Something to think about . .

Very interesting. I do remember, when I was a little girl, all eggs looked like the egg on the left. I think you’ve convinced me to buy organic/free-range eggs. Thanks.

Nothing beats home grown eggs. We get ours from our son, they are bigger and the yolks are not yellow.

Visible proof that you are what you eat. And I’d rather eat the left one.
