Last week, during the middle of the week, Vince was at Walmart and he was looking at clearance priced merchandise and a lady who worked there told him all the clearance stuff was 50% off but you had to tell them at the checkout. He bought a few things, then we went back over the weekend and that’s when he discovered the wine on sale. It wasn’t included in the 50% off promotion but some of the wines were regular $7 or $9, marked down to $2. There’s one he really likes that’s about $12/bottle and it was marked down to $5.
Taproot is a brand I’ve never tried, though I’m definitely not a wine expert. I’ll take Dr. Pepper over wine any day! We went to visit friends that night and took two different bottles of Taproot – a Moscato and something else. We all liked them just fine and decided for $2.00, it was worth the investment.
Last week he also bought a rod and reel that had a $157 original price and was marked down and marked down again and with the 50% off, Vince got it for $30.
Back to Walmart yesterday and a few more bargains hopped into our cart.
Some of the things I bought for Addie will be put up til she’s a little older. I have a plastic tote in the sewing room and I put all the “Addie Surprises” in there and when I go to visit her, I dig around and take the ones I want to give her.
This little art set is listed for $35 at Amazon and though the WM price didn’t show the original price, it was marked down to about $22 so we got it for $12.
He got this toothbrush for $15. The original price is listed at $64.98, though it’s currently listed at WM online for $35, it was still a bargain for $15.
The find I was most happy about was this Dutch Oven. It’s a 7 quart pre-seasoned Lodge cast iron Dutch Oven. I use a whole lot of cast iron pots and though one this big won’t be one I’ll use every day, it sure is nice to have when I do need one this big.
The original price was $54.97, which is the same price listed at Amazon, it was marked down to $40 and we got it for $20.
We ended up with a cart full of bargains, and even a bit more wine. It’s always an adventure shopping with Vince.

I’m curious: When it says pre-seasoned on the cast iron package, is it true? Or do you still have to pre-season it? I love your blog. It’s on my “Must Read” list.

I never seem to see these bargains at Wal-Mart – I would love that dutch oven! and the wine – we can’t buy wine at our Wal-Mart here – dry county.

Vince is the best at finding bargains, that’s for sure. Lots of good stuff in your basket.
